Psychometrician Full Description

IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking a psychometrician to oversee the technical quality of IXL's specialized assessments. In this role, you'll collaborate with curriculum designers, research scientists, and product managers to create, maintain, and improve student assessments. Additionally, you'll play a key role in advancing IXL's assessment strategy, as well as conducting and publishing analyses to ensure fair, accurate, and equitable assessment experiences for all learners. #LI-SR1

This is a full-time remote position for candidates in the United States. #LI-REMOTE

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Develop modern, widely used, computer-adaptive tests for K–12 education, including universal screening and diagnostic assessments for math and ELA
  • Conduct classical and IRT analyses of test data, including item calibration, standard-setting, scoring, scaling, equating, score reporting, and quality assurance analyses
  • Perform reliability and validity analyses and collaborate with research scientists to document development processes and create technical reports
  • Collaborate with content experts to create and curate item pools

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Ph.D. in Education Measurement, Psychometrics, Quantitative Psychology, Statistics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of active experience in new test development, computer-adaptive testing, item pool maintenance, standard-setting, equating, and validity studies
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and decision-making skills
  • Can-do attitude with an openness to others' ideas
  • Willingness to innovate and find new, efficient solutions to complex problems
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Ability to summarize complex technical information and communicate it to a variety of audiences
  • Fluency in computer/statistical programming (e.g., R, Python, SQL, etc.)
  • Familiarity with K–12 education is a plus
  • Knowledge of mobile and web technologies is a plus
