QA Engineer Full Description

SchooLinks is a globally distributed, venture-backed Ed-Tech startup that is changing how students explore and pursue their post-high school goals. We have a suite of over 80 tools for students and school staff including college application management, course planning, financial situations, personality assessments, college profiles, and many others.

We presently do not have the ability to sponsor H1-B Visas
This role will need to work standard US hours 

What you'll do:
  • Join a talented product development team to help deliver high-quality ed-tech software to over 2,000,000 students
  • Quickly learn our suite of tools and perform exploratory, risk-based testing to help identify as many high risk issues as quickly as possible
  • Write comprehensive, well-organized test cases that cover new and existing features to ensure that delivered functionality matches the acceptance criteria outlined in user stories and does not cause regressions
  • Write very clear reproducible bugs in Jira to minimize follow-up questions so that issues can be addressed as quickly as possible
  • Reproduce production issues, assign them appropriately, and validate them when fixed
  • Lead process creation or improvement in your team to increase speed and quality
  • Assist in e2e automated testing efforts writing tests in Playwright using TypeScript

Requirements
  • 5+ years of professional QA experience testing a web-hosted/SaaS product 
    • Experience writing test cases for complex products with multiple user types and complex data inputs and context
    • Experience executing tests and documenting bugs in Jira. You should also be able to determine the source of a bug (Front end, Back end/API, data, etc)
  • A track record of learning complex business logic and quickly finding issues in the applications you’ve tested
  • The ability to build collaborative relationships and win the respect of your teammates
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and making judgment calls about expected behavior. As a startup, we have some documented requirements and behavior, but you must also be comfortable inferring some behavior and also be able to know when to ask team members.
  • Excellent written and spoken English

Nice to have:
  • Professional experience writing e2e tests using Playwright with Typescript
  • Python or Javascript scripting experience
  • Be comfortable with SQL, pandas, other data tools to examine data and check for certain patterns
  • API testing experience using Postman or other tools
  • Performance testing experience with jMeter, Locust, or other perf testing tools
  • If you know Django and are comfortable with the ORM and Django admin, this is a MAJOR plus
  • Experience educating product dev teams on becoming better testers themselves
  • Experience in Education or EdTech

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 USD. This compensation range is specific to the United States and it incorporates many factors including but not limited to an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience and training; licensures, degrees, and certifications; specific geographic location; internal equity; internal pay ranges; and market data/range parameters.
