Job Summary
This is a 100% remote position based out of Yakima County. Recruiting territory consists of, yet not limited to, Chelan, Douglas, Kittitas, Klickitat, and Yakima counties. The scope of territory in Central Washington is subject to change as territories are updated according to university priorities on an annual basis.

Join the dedicated team in Enrollment Services at Eastern Washington University as a Regional Admissions Advisor. This vital role supports EWU’s commitment to fostering student success by guiding prospective students through their process of selecting and enrolling in university courses. As a Regional Admissions Advisor you will play a key part in empowering students to build academic plans that pave the way for a successful EWU experience, and confidently pursue their degree goals. The Office of Admissions at EWU strives to meet undergraduate enrollment goals that reflect Eastern Washington University’s of providing an inclusive, equitable, and transformative learning experience, driving the pursuit of knowledge with affordable academic excellence.

The Regional Admissions Advisor will be responsible for recruiting prospective students for Eastern Washington University through territory management, travel, prospective student communication, admissions presentations, and file review. Recruiting territory consists of yet not limited to.

The salary for this position is $44,712 – $53,658. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills.

Conditions of Employment

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Ability to participate in evening and weekend events and multi-day recruitment trips, which will require a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record;
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, pay attention to detail and produce desired results;
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, friendly and effective manner both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures regarding admission and records management;

Coordinate recruitment and outreach utilizing best practices in territory management:
  • Travel to represent the University and support recruiting efforts;
  • Coordinate and conduct recruitment visits to high schools, community colleges, community organizations and other recruitment venues;
  • Provide customized support to establish and maintain strong relationships with students and families from your assigned territory;
  • Attend and support relevant community events;
  • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with guidance counselors, community organizations and agencies, and other key influencers;
  • Maintain contact with prospective students, school personnel, families, and other organizations, and make referrals as necessary based on the specific needs of students;
  • Advise prospective students, school personnel and families on application, admissions, financial aid, academic, and other student processes and policies;
  • Develop strategies and approaches for accomplishing programmatic goals and objectives related to early outreach;
  • Plan and execute application generating events and activities at schools within the assigned territory;
  • Develop methods and strategies for recruiting traditional and under-represented students to EWU;
  • Coordinate recruitment activities and participation of other departments, faculty, student services, enrollment management, etc.;
  • Perform outreach activities; participate in events; serve as a university liaison; and disseminate university information;
  • Assist with on-campus and off-campus recruitment events including information sessions, fall preview day, and spring yield events;
  • Maintain and document regular student contact and achieve assigned outreach goals with applicants, primarily via phone, text and/or via e-mail or letter to assist with the application process and provide information as required;
  • Manage weekly communication with students throughout entire application process primarily via texting platform, email, and occasionally phone;
  • Produces follow-up reports regarding recruitment activities and future plans, and accurately forecast projected new students periodically; and
  • Review and analyze activity and outcomes, and use data to plan travel for future recruitment activity.

Provide processing and administrative support to the operations team within the Office of Admissions:
  • Evaluate new student applications using research based assessment tools while adhering to university admissions policies;
  • Update and maintain information in tracking documents, university systems, and communication platforms, and use data from these platforms and systems to prepare activity reports as requested;
  • Confidentially manage student documents such as transcripts, fee waivers, and other items related to the admissions application;
  • Update student records in a timely fashion following recruitment events and/or communication with students;
  • Support statewide initiatives to increase the college going rate in Washington state;
  • Maintain technological skills necessary for file review, admissions processing, and strategic territory management;
  • Interpret WSAC and NACAC policies in making admissions decisions;
  • Use national best practices related to holistic admissions review;
  • Represent EWU at conferences and other professional events, and participate in networks, organizations, committees as the need arises;
  • Advise supervisor on issues and concerns of students or of departments;
  • Analyze and assess recruitment activities for improvement of territory management plan; and
  • Assist with specialized admissions projects.
