The Research Account Specialist will manage the funding portfolio for the Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering and the Lilly Purdue Research Center within the Office of Research. This role is responsible for promoting communication among investigator teams and assisting in issue resolution, preparing budget projections, and coordinating reporting processes. The specialist will maintain fiscal and administrative controls to ensure all funds are expended in accordance with University and sponsor policies and procedures, and will serve as a liaison with participants, sponsors, subcontractors, and other University offices. Additional responsibilities include answering key financial questions on behalf of the principal investigator, identifying minor changes in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness, and acting as a key contact for account management staff, business managers in the College, and University colleagues. The specialist may also provide coverage during extended staff leaves or vacancies, train other staff on research-related duties, represent the area at research-related meetings, actively participate in university-wide project teams, and help coordinate or monitor activities within assigned areas.
This position requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- BA/BS required with Business Administration, Management, Finance or related field of study
- 2+ years of account management, financial management or related experience
Skills needed:
- Working knowledge of account management, financial reporting, and/or grant management
- Ability to analyze, interpret and implement University policies and procedures
- Strong written/verbal communication skills
- Excellent planning, problem-solving, organizational, project-management and customer service skills
- Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels
- Must possess a learning orientation toward changing technology impacting business processes
- Strong quantitative skills with ability to synthesize complex information and produce quality management reports
