Research and Finance Specialist Full Description

Job Description Summary

The Institute for Systems Research (ISR) is seeking a Research and Finance Specialist to join the ISR business operations team. This position requires a highly organized team player with exceptional attention to detail. This role also involves a high level of internal customer service (e.g., supporting and collaborating with faculty, staff and students); therefore, the ideal candidate will demonstrate proven success with engaging PIs, faculty and other stakeholders. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

The Research and Finance Specialist is responsible for preparing, executing and tracking the day-to-day financial transactions for the ISR, primarily its sponsored research accounts. The primary job functions include, but are not limited to: 

- Monitoring and reconciling ISR accounts, primarily sponsored award activity 
- Reviewing sub-contract invoices to ensure funding and compliance 
- Generating routine financial summary reports for PIs
- Meeting regularly with PIs to review financial activity against targets 
- Preparing post-award submissions, including no-cost extensions, new award and/or award modification requests 
- Assisting the pre-award process by supporting PIs with budget development (ensuring accurate FA, fringe rate, tuition rates, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three (3) years of professional grants, finance, or accounting experience.

Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of grants related policies and procedures, and federal, state, and other applicable related laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products.
Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
