 I. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION 
Job Description Summary:  | The George Washington University’s (GWU) Center for Rehabilitation Counseling Research and Education (CRCRE) aims to enhance research and provide opportunities for growth and development to a diverse population, including persons with disabilities. As a leadership position within, the Research Center Project Director, CRCRE is responsible for the strategic oversight and management of assigned federal grant activities and serves as a primary liaison to the U.S, Department of Education, including the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS), the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, as well as national stakeholders, state and local agencies, and partner organizations.

The Research Center Project Director, CRCRE provides expert consultation on large-scale programmatic, fiscal, performance, compliance, and systems-related issues affecting the national Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) system and ensures that all project activities and outputs align with federal priorities, grant deliverables, and institutional standards.

This position oversees the delivery of intensive and targeted technical assistance, directs complex work plans and timelines, manages project risk and accountability, coordinates and monitors budget and reporting responsibilities, and guides the development of national training curricula, technical assistance tools, corrective action strategies, and implementation frameworks.

The role provides strategic direction for project staff and consultants, including developing consultant scopes of work, leading consultants and providing direction on project work activities, deliverables, and performance expectations.

The Research Center Project Director, CRCRE is also responsible for leading and contributing to competitive grant proposal development and outreach and engagement to develop opportunities for contracts with states to perform work to sustain and expand CRCRE’s federally funded portfolio.

Research Center Project Directors, CRCRE may speak as a lecturer at GWU, present at national conferences, provide training to rehabilitation counselors, paraprofessionals, and state agency directors, represent the Center and University in national and federal engagements, and help maintain CRCRE’s standing as a national leader in rehabilitation counseling, research, and education.

CRCRE projects operate on a national scale, this position may be performed remotely and may require occasional travel for in-person technical assistance, presentations, monitoring, and project leadership activities.

Minimum Qualifications:  | Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline plus 7 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:  | Certified Rehabilitation Counselor with prior experience in the State-Federal Vocational Rehabilitation program highly preferred.
