The Division of Research seeks a technology professional with strong technical support, systems administration, and customer service skills to support enterprise research technologies and digital initiatives. The successful candidate will contribute to research operations, technology modernization, website services, AI-enabled tools, and continuous improvement efforts that enhance support services and operational efficiency.

Please note that his position may require occasional extended hours for upgrades, events, testing, or operational deadlines outside of normal business hours defined as Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.  | Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience. Experience supporting hardware, operating systems, enterprise applications, endpoint technologies, networking, and user devices in a multi-user environment. Experience troubleshooting software, authentication, access, application performance, and systems integration issues. Experience supporting websites, web applications, content management systems, or web-based platforms. Strong and responsive customer service, communication, training, documentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive institutional and research information.

Preferred Qualifications  | Experience supporting eRA systems such as Kuali, Cayuse, Huron, InfoEd, Streamlyne, or similar platforms. Experience supporting AI tools, workflow automation solutions, analytics platforms, dashboards, or reporting systems. Experience with website platforms such as WordPress, SharePoint, Drupal, Gato, Calico, or similar technologies. Experience with endpoint management, software deployment, cybersecurity practices, vulnerability remediation, or IT asset management. Familiarity with research administration, sponsored programs, compliance operations, or higher education environments.

Job Description  | The Research IT Specialist provides operational and technical support for the Division of Research technology environment, including desktop systems, enterprise applications, electronic research administration (eRA) platforms, websites, conferencing technologies, and emerging AI-enabled tools.

This position serves as a primary resource for troubleshooting hardware, software, authentication, networking, and systems access issues while supporting secure, reliable, and efficient technology operations. The Specialist assists with administration of research administration systems, website maintenance, workflow automation tools, analytics resources, and user support services.

The successful candidate is a customer-focused technology professional with strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and the ability to communicate technical information to diverse audiences.

Job Duties  | Provide technical support for desktop hardware, laptops, mobile devices, printers, operating systems, peripherals, and enterprise applications. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, networking, authentication, access, and systems integration issues. Support administration and user assistance for eRA systems and related proposal, compliance, and award management platforms. Maintain user accounts, permissions, role-based security, and access controls for departmental and enterprise systems. Support departmental websites, web applications, content management systems, and web-based services. Assist with implementation and support of workflow automation, reporting tools, dashboards, AI-enabled solutions, and operational technologies. Support conferencing, audiovisual, livestreaming, and hybrid meeting technologies for research operations and events. Coordinate with university IT, vendors, developers, and functional offices to resolve issues and implement technology improvements. Create and maintain technical documentation, training materials, knowledge-base resources, inventory records, and standard operating procedures. Monitor technology resources for performance, security, reliability, and compliance and perform other duties as assigned.
