 | Department: Vision Sciences
| Salary: Commensurate with experience
| Description: Supervises and coordinates the activities of personnel engaged in research and experimental testing. Maintains lab operations. May investigate complaints regarding lab services, equipment, and/or capabilities. Possesses, understands, and applies a comprehensive knowledge in area of specialization. Understands and uses effective management techniques. 

1. Manages the operation of two or more research laboratories. 
2. Assigns, checks, and monitors assignments of lab personnel. 
3. Maintains an adequate inventory of equipment, chemicals, and other materials. 
4. Estimates personnel needs to obtain lab and research objectives. 
5. Conducts personnel evaluations, recommends hiring and terminations, and performs other management functions. 
6. Operates with considerable latitude for unreviewed action. 
7. Reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of personnel. 

Under supervision, the candidate will work with cell culture of primary and immortalized cells and with in vivo with mouse models. The candidate will assist in (i) active animal studies including but not limited to maintaining mouse colonies, breeding, and the development and execution of high pace research studies, (ii) the isolation and culture of primary cells from human and animal tissues, and (iii) performance of various cell & molecular biological techniques (PCR, Western blotting, genotyping, immunocyto/histochemistry and microscopy). Responsibilities also include: keeping detailed record logs, general lab maintenance, ordering supplies, maintenance of order logs and packing slips, authorizing invoice payments.

MQ: Bachelor's Degree with 5 years experience.
