Revenue Accounting Manager
Finance - Columbia, Maryland (Hybrid)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Revenue Accounting Manager to lead our revenue recognition and accounts receivable operations. This role will manage a team of 2 Revenue Staff Accountants and 2–4 Accounts Receivable Clerks/Specialists, ensuring accurate and timely revenue reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP (ASC 606), while supporting cash collection and billing efforts.
As part of a growing 150–200 person company, you’ll play a critical role in scaling revenue operations, partnering with cross-functional teams including Sales, Customer Success, Legal, and FP&A to drive transparency and alignment around revenue activities.

Responsibilities
Revenue Accounting
- Own the monthly revenue close process, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, contract review, and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with ASC 606 and internal revenue policies.
- Review customer contracts and sales arrangements to determine proper accounting treatment.
- Partner with FP&A on revenue forecasting and analysis.
- Assist with external audits, including preparing PBCs and responding to auditor inquiries.
Accounts Receivable Oversight
- Supervise billing, collections, and cash application activities.
- Monitor customer account aging and collaborate with external vendors who support the cash collection process
- Guide AR team in managing customer communications and resolving billing discrepancies.
Team Leadership
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of Revenue Accountants and AR Specialists.
- Foster a collaborative and accountable team culture.
- Establish clear performance goals and support professional growth.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency in revenue and AR workflows.
- Support ERP and billing system enhancements and integrations.
- Maintain strong internal controls and support audit readiness.
Experience/ Skills Required
- CPA license
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in revenue accounting.
- 2+ years of people management experience.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, especially ASC 606.
- Experience with ERP systems (preferably NetSuite) and billing platforms.
Preferred:
- Experience in a SaaS, technology, or subscription-based business.
- Experience in a high-growth or mid-sized company environment.
