Description
The Manager, Royalty Operations (Temporary) will play a key role in supporting the end-to-end execution of royalty period close processes for the Macmillan US Trade division. This position is responsible for coordinating critical royalty activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance in workflows and processes. This is a hands-on role, focused on orchestrating statement finalization timelines, resolving processing issues, and executing key review and checking of steps. The ideal candidate will bring a strong operational mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment. Depending on performance and business needs, there may be scope for this temporary position to transition into a permanent role.

What you’ll do:

Royalty Close Execution & Oversight:
  • Manage and track all key activities and deadlines related to the royalty period close process.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on exceptions, tasks, and special handling requirements.
  • Prepare and distribute summary-level reporting on royalty statement outputs.
  • Track key activities and communicate required actions to relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the release of statements to internal or external platforms for recipient access.

Oversee Workflows & Processes:
  • Distribute statement types via delivery channels.
  • Prepare and send required payment-related communications.
  • Validate key data alignment across systems.
  • Investigate and resolve data gaps or inconsistencies.
  • Support updates to stakeholder records.

Payment & Issue Resolution Support:
  • Partner with Payment Operations to monitor and resolve exceptions, such as rejected or reversed transactions.
  • Support compliance by organizing and maintaining relevant documentation and enrollment records.

Cross-functional Coordination:
  • Work with internal teams (e.g., Finance, Legal, Contracts, Technology) to resolve issues and ensure data accuracy.
  • Communicate progress and key milestones to stakeholders throughout the close process.

What you'll bring:
- At least 3–5 years of experience in royalty operations, finance, accounting, or a related field; publishing experience strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Biblio royalty platform and SAP is highly desirable.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Comfortable executing processes and managing multiple deadlines.
- Proactive communicator and collaborator; capable of escalating issues effectively.
- High integrity and a commitment to accuracy and service excellence.

Ideal Experience/Education:
- Prior experience supporting a royalty period close or working within a royalty accounting department.
- Knowledge of contract structures and royalty agreements in the publishing industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Publishing, or a related discipline.

This role will have an hourly rate of $50-$65/hour and will be onboarded/paid through Noor Staffing.
