Project Overview
Brainscape is seeking a talented Russian translator / content creator to help build a new beginner curriculum for our flashcard web and mobile app. You'll work from our proven content template (with full training and style guide provided) to create high-quality flashcards and study materials designed specifically for beginner learners.

Job Description
You will be responsible for creating and reviewing beginner language content that is clear, accurate, and culturally relevant. This role is collaborative and requires a keen eye for detail, plus the ability to simplify complex concepts for first-time learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise on best practices for representing Russian in a digital flashcard format (e.g., script vs. romanization, diacritics, learner scaffolding).
  • Provide feedback on learner challenges unique to Russian (e.g., script direction, pronunciation).
  • Adapt our content template for beginner flashcards to create a full Russian beginner curriculum.
  • Write accurate and contextually appropriate translations for vocabulary and phrases.
  • Craft concise, beginner-friendly flashcard footnotes explaining grammar, pronunciation, or cultural nuances.
  • Review and edit content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and pedagogical soundness with our style guide.
  • Apply best practices from language learning tools and mobile flashcards.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Fluent in both English and Russian.
  • Bonus points for proficiency in a third language.
  • Experience teaching Russian or developing language learning content.
  • Ability to simplify complex grammar and cultural points for beginning learners.
  • Accept constructive criticism respectfully and collaborate from peers and Brainscape.
  • Comfortable with online collaboration tools (e.g., Google Docs, Trello).

Commitment 
This is a remote opportunity with a flexible commitment of at least 10 to 40 hours in total, with the possibility of a longer-term engagement. The work required will be spread over a period of 6-10 weeks in various chunks of time that may be subject to change week-by-week. 

You may be assigned a Lead Role or a secondary Editor role based on your experience, expertise, and availability.
