The mission of the Enterprise Applications (EA) department is to plan, implement and maintain integrated central and distributed information systems and associated databases that support the business needs of the university. The Customer Relationship Management (CRM) team plays a critical role.
About the Position:
The Salesforce Solution Architect serves as the strategic and technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing Salesforce solutions across the institution. This role guides the architecture and governance of Salesforce platforms—spanning Sales, Service, Marketing, and Education Clouds—to support institutional goals in recruitment, engagement, and student success. As a key member of the Information Technology Services (ITS) organization, the Salesforce Solution Architect provides direction on architecture, integrations, and best practices, ensuring the Salesforce ecosystem remains secure, scalable, and aligned with business strategy. The Architect provides technical leadership to administrators and developers, mentors staff, and partners with business stakeholders to deliver innovative, data-driven solutions.
Responsibilities:
Leads the design and implementation of scalable Salesforce architecture supporting multiple business units;Collaborates with institutional leaders and IT teams to define and drive Salesforce strategy, governance, and platform roadmap;Serves as the principal technical authority for Salesforce integrations, data architecture, and security;Oversees Salesforce solution design, configuration, and customization across Sales, Service, Marketing, and Education Clouds;Conducts architecture reviews to ensure solutions are robust, compliant, and aligned with enterprise standards;Provides technical leadership for developers and administrators; establishes coding, testing, and deployment best practices;Partners with project managers to ensure successful delivery of Salesforce initiatives, including scoping, resourcing, and risk management;Develops and maintains Salesforce governance processes and documentation;Leads proof-of-concepts and prototypes to evaluate emerging Salesforce features and technologies;Ensures compliance with accessibility, privacy, and security standards (including W3C, ADA, and Section 508);Mentors team members, promotes knowledge sharing, and fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement; andServes as a senior member of the Salesforce Center of Excellence, advocating for platform adoption and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience;Extensive experience as a Salesforce Solution Architect, Technical Lead, or Senior Developer with hands-on experience designing multi-cloud Salesforce solutions;Proven success in implementing and integrating Salesforce with other enterprise systems;Strong understanding of Salesforce configuration, customization, and integration tools (e.g., REST/SOAP APIs, Informatica, MuleSoft, or Ethos);Deep knowledge of Salesforce platform architecture, data modeling, security, and development lifecycle management;Proficiency with release management tools such as Copado, Gearset, or Flosum;Familiarity with agile methodologies and modern DevOps practices;Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills;Salesforce Certified Application Architect; andSalesforce Certified Integration Architect.
Preferred Qualifications:
Salesforce Certified System Architect;Salesforce Certified OmniStudio Consultant or Developer;Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA);Salesforce Certified Education Cloud Consultant;Prior experience in higher education or nonprofit environments;Experience managing Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Education Cloud solutions;Background integrating Salesforce with data warehouses or analytics tools (e.g., Tableau CRM);Familiarity with OmniStudio and industry-specific data models;Ability to lead technical teams and collaborate effectively across departments;Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on solution quality and maintainability;Commitment to security, compliance, and accessibility standards; and Ability to balance strategic vision with practical execution.
