Science Test Developer II

Job Overview:
Someone in the role of Science Test Developer II has demonstrated excellent item writing and reviewing skills, grade/grade-band lead skills, and may have multiple years as a teaching professional.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Uses state item specifications to write effective items for different projects.
  • Works under the direction of a project content lead to lead a grade level item pool development for a state
  • Drives group reviews and autonomously conducts preliminary, content review 1, and may begin to conduct senior reviews for all projects.
  • Manages educator content review meetings, rubric validation meetings, range finding meetings, and data review meetings
  • Participates in standard setting meetings as the content expert
  • Runs item development for grade level or grade band, self-directedly
  • Heads item development for content area, with supervision
  • Writes blueprints and translates them into an item pool development plan, with supervision
  • Has increasingly independent client interactions

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or a related field + 5-8 years’ experience or a Master’s degree + 1-4 years’ experience
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience teaching science and/or developing content in an Educational Assessment environment
  • Strong knowledge and experience with the U.S. Education and Education Assessment is required
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to identify problems and conceptualize solutions
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Skilled at collaboration
  • Required travel for this position ranges from 1 week to 6 weeks per year
  • Candidates should be able to travel from 2-5 days at a time
