Department Summary
The College of Health Professions offers Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Physician Assistant Studies, and Master of Science in Lifestyle Health Sciences and Coaching degrees. Our outstanding programs provide the knowledge, experience and skills necessary to ensure our students excel in their chosen health professions.
Position Overview
The Academic Business Director is a key advisor to the Dean in all areas involving administration, operations, and finance and serves as a member of the leadership team within the School of Health Professions. This position will report directly to the Dean. This position serves as the chief administrative/financial officer for the college. The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of duties required to maintain operational and project budgets and accounting functions. These duties may include project and data management, workforce and financial planning, annual budget development, and their related administrative functions. Additionally, this position works collaboratively with Human Resources, Payroll, and service departments within the Health Science Center that provide support to the ongoing business operations of the college. The Academic Business Director will serve as a liaison between the college and the Finance Office in support of all financial activities and goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Healthcare Administration and seven (7) years of experience in the same or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrates proficiency in budgeting, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and Windows navigation.Possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to define and address issues, communicate results effectively, and make recommendations for process improvements.Skilled in detailed financial analysis, including reconciliations and understanding accrual accounting.Capable of fostering collaborative relationships and exercising ethical leadership.Exhibits excellent communication skills and can engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.Demonstrates executive management skills, including project and time management, prioritization, and resource allocation.Able to translate complex issues into layman's terms for broad understanding.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree from a four year college or university in Business, Finance, Accounting or Healthcare Administration; Six (6) years of progressively responsible financial management experience, including preparation of financial reports and management of operating and capital budgets; Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job DutiesServe as the senior financial and administrative officer for the School of Health Professions.Participate in and support strategic long term financial planning efforts to ensure financial resources are available to achieve academic objectives and goals.Prepare projections and business models as needed. Oversee all fiscal affairs of the college, including preparation, implementation, and management of the operating and capital budgets.Monitor cash flows and expenditure plans, fund management, and grants and contracts management.Develop and maintain monthly financial reports for all accounts of college, including monitoring the financial position against budget on a regular basis and communicate findings to the Dean, department chairs, and department administrators.Consult with departmental administrators to clarify information and/or resolve issues associated with fiscal affairs.Provide operational support for projects as directed by the Dean to execute the Schools strategic objectives.
