Senior Accountant Full Description

Overview: 
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to be responsible for the preparation and review of financial statements for multiple dental office locations. This individual should have the ability to understand revenue recognition principles, analyze financial transactions and re-engineer processes to gain efficiencies. He/she will work with colleagues in multiple departments on reporting results to Regional and Corporate management.

Responsibilities: 
Detail oriented with the ability to gain an in-depth understanding of practice management software and associated revenue and accounts receivable calculations
· Prepares and analyzes office and regional financial statements and budgets
· Prepares journal entries and maintains supporting records
· Prepares account reconciliations for multiple accounts and locations
· Answers accounting and financial questions by researching US GAAP, general ledger transactions and interpreting data
· Provides detail analysis and quantifies variances from expected results
· Maintains supporting work papers for internal and external audits
· Develops and implements efficient accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes
· Communicates with Office Managers and Regional Management on financial results and policies/procedures
· Constructs ad-doc reports and assist with projects as needed
 
ATTRIBUTES OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:
· Strong computer and business solution software skills
· Good communication skills for communicating with support personnel and management
· Strong analytical skills for researching and identifying discrepancies
· Ability to work independently and to adapt in a dynamic environment

Qualifications: 
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
· 3-5 years of accounting experience (public accounting is a plus)
· Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office Tools
· Working knowledge of US GAAP and ability to research technical items
· Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
· Strong analytical skills for researching and identifying discrepancies
· Experience working with accounting software, (Great Plains is a plus)
