Sr. Android Developer
Kajabi is looking for a talented Android developer to join our Mobile cross-functional product team, and drive our apps towards a greater impact for our customers. The ideal candidate is a seasoned developer with broad android development experience, a deep understanding of mobile best practices, and a good grasp on how best to utilize AI tools like cursor and windsurf to accelerate their coding velocity. As a part of our cross-functional product team, you’ll work with other Android and iOS developers as well as alongside an Engineering Manager and Product Manager to ensure engineering excellence and timely execution in the successful launch of new and existing mobile products.
 
The Impact You'll Make
  • Work with a dedicated mobile team to design, architect, build, and maintain new and existing apps that aim to give our customers superpowers.
  • Write clean, simple, well-tested code that is easy to understand and maintain.
  • Review code written by other developers and offer constructive feedback.
  • Provide technical leadership, platform knowledge, and a detailed knowledge of the AOSP to the developers on your team.
  • Participate in or drive application architecture discussions for new features or projects.
  • Collaborate with product design and UX experts in planning native application experiences that wow our customers. 
  • Participate in weekly one on ones with your eng manager to grow your career. 
  • Maintenance and updates for the continued operation of existing mobile applications. 
  • Focus on coding (Kotlin) content-based applications that place a heavy focus on flexibility to allow for dynamic server-side changes and user-generated content.
  • Build, manage, and deploy applications to the Google Play admin console and maintain closed / open betas. 
  • Work closely with the development team in our preferred toolset and practices (git & Github, Jira & Confluence,  Firebase, Datadog, and agile-ish development practices. 
 
Attributes for Success
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Android development with a deep understanding of modern Android architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture).
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose for UI development, including composable functions, state management, and theming.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted coding tools like Cursor or WindSurf to enhance productivity and code quality as well as a working knowledge of agentic coding. 
  • Expertise in dependency injection with Hilt and/or Dagger.
  • Experience with Kotlin Coroutines and Flow for asynchronous programming.
  • Proficiency with AndroidX architecture components (ViewModel, LiveData, Navigation, Room).
  • Experience with modern media handling using Media3/ExoPlayer for audio and video playback.
  • Knowledge of networking libraries like Retrofit and OkHttp for API communication.
  • Experience with image loading libraries (Coil, Glide, Picasso).
  • Proficiency with unit testing using JUnit 5, MockK, and Kotlin test libraries.
  • Experience with Firebase services (Crashlytics, Messaging).
  • Familiarity with observability tools like Datadog for monitoring app performance.
  • Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
  • Experience creating a full app from start to finish (soup to nuts) by yourself as well as alongside other developers.
  • Experience with open-source third-party libraries and the ability to fork/modify projects for modularity.
  • Confidence in architecting solutions independently, while also taking the time to ask questions about behavior and business outcomes.
  • Ability to break apart large projects into small incremental steps and extract the minimum viable product from ambitious ideas.
  • Comfort working with Git and GitHub, including managing merge conflicts and code reviews.
  • Belief in modularity, writing clear documentation, and a no-ego approach to coding that welcomes new and improved ideas.

In-Office Requirement Statement
We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection. 
  • This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 2-3 times a quarter and therefore is best situated in the Western Time zones.

In an effort to provide greater transparency, we are sharing the base salary range for this position. The position is also eligible for equity. Final salary is based on a number of factors including location, travel, relevant prior experience, or particular skills and expertise.
