Advertised Job Summary  | The Senior Asset Accountant is accountable for overseeing Capital Assets in the General Accounting department of the Controller’s Office. This role encompasses the daily review of capital assets, conducting physical inventories, preparing asset reports, and managing depreciation. Additionally, it involves researching and analyzing assets and capital projects associated with these assets, verifying and documenting financial transactions, and reconciling and reporting on capital assets and projects. This includes the review and preparation of both monthly and annual reports.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience  | Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities  | Knowledge of the principles, practices, theories and terminology of accounting, capital financing, debt management, tax, banking, budgeting, financial management or investment. Job Duty  | Manage the Capital Owned and Leased Assets within the General Accounting department of the Controller’s Office to include recording of asset updates and transfers, adding donated assets from University affiliated entities, removing disposed assets in accordance with State Surplus procedures, reviewing and approving requisitions for asset purchases, processing monthly depreciation, Additionally, it includes executing the month-end asset management closing procedures within the Asset Management System.

Foster collaboration with department physical inventory users to guarantee that all assets are appropriately tagged and that the necessary documentation is obtained. Ensure that asset tag numbers are entered into the system on a recurring basis.
