The Senior Assistant Director, Admissions Events & Campus Visits plays an active role in the development of the coming year’s class of students. GW welcomes over 50,000 visitors to campus each year through our campus tours, recruitment, and yield events. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to diversity and providing access to higher education. Reporting to the Associate Director, Admissions Events & Campus Visits, the Senior Assistant Director supervises one professional staff member and serves as an operational leader for the Visits & Events team.

Key roles for this position include:
  • Supervise a professional staff member, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and professional development.
  • Provide collaborative oversight of Undergraduate Admissions Public Contact operations, ensuring compliance with departmental service standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage operational workflow and staffing priorities based on enrollment cycle demands and visitor volume.
  • Development and execution of high-level training of professional staff with regard to new public contact programs, policy, and procedural updates or initiatives
  • Regular communication with Enrollment and Student Success teams, including the Office of Student Financial Assistance, Office of the Registrar, Office for Student Affairs, and the Student Financial and Registration Service Hub
  • Serve as a liaison between the Undergraduate Admissions Public Contact team and campus partners, to identify collaborative opportunities to ensure the highest quality campus visit experience
  • Increase applications by evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of campus visit programming
  • Oversee operational planning and execution of campus visit and event programs, including logistics, communication plans, visitor experience initiatives, and CRM implementation.
  • Monitor daily visit survey results, and implement process improvements in collaboration with senior staff
  • Holistic evaluation of first-year and transfer applications; makes recommendations for admissions decisions and determines eligibility for special admissions programs; presents cases in committee
  • Represent the University both on-campus and off-campus via information sessions, high school visits, college fairs, etc.

The position is based at GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Slate CRM, including event management, query development, reporting, communication plans, forms, portals, and data management.
  • Experience leveraging Slate data and reporting tools to assess visitor experiences, support enrollment initiatives, and inform operational decision-making.
  • Experience managing or supporting admissions visit programs, recruitment events, or public contact operations within a higher education environment.
  • Experience developing and implementing operational processes, training programs, or customer service initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze assessment data, identify trends, and implement process improvements.
  • Experience supervising professional and/or student staff in a customer service, enrollment, or higher education setting.

Hiring Range $66,095.67 - $90,896.59
