Location: Remote, Hybrid to Wayne, PA; Hybrid to Naperville, IL

How You'll Contribute to Our Mission
Frontline Education is seeking a Senior Back-End Software Engineer to help design and evolve the systems that power mission-critical solutions for school districts and educational organizations. In this role, you will work at the intersection of modern software engineering, applied AI, and compliance-focused product development.
Your work will help ensure that powerful technology is delivered in ways that are reliable, transparent, and trustworthy. By translating emerging AI capabilities into secure, scalable backend services, you will directly support educators and administrators operating in complex regulatory environments where accuracy and accountability matter every day.
 
How You'll Drive Success
• Design, build, and maintain highly available, scalable backend services using modern .NET technologies
• Integrate AI-driven workflows such as language models, classification, prediction, and automation into new and existing product capabilities
• Partner closely with product, data, security, and compliance teams to ensure new features meet regulatory, audit, and governance expectations
• Architect solutions that balance thoughtful innovation with risk awareness, especially in compliance-focused domains
• Develop well-documented, testable APIs and services that support complex enterprise workflows
• Build systems with observability, resiliency, and performance at the forefront
• Contribute to architectural direction, platform modernization, and long-term technical strategy
• Mentor fellow engineers through code reviews, design collaboration, and shared best practices
• Participate in incident response and continuous improvement efforts to strengthen system reliability
 
What You Bring to Help Us Grow
• Strong experience in professional software engineering with deep focus on backend development
• Expertise in C#, .NET, and enterprise service architecture
• Experience bringing AI-enabled capabilities into production environments, including orchestration, inference workflows, or human-in-the-loop systems
• Background working in regulated or compliance-oriented industries such as education, healthcare, finance, or government
• Understanding of data privacy, security, and governance considerations in enterprise systems
• Experience with relational databases and ORM technologies
• Solid grasp of distributed systems concepts such as messaging, background processing, and fault tolerance
• Ability to communicate technical decisions and tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $170,000 and commensurate with your experience, skills, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, you will be eligible for performance-based incentives aligned to individual, team, and company results.
