Arizona State University's Office of the University Provost is seeking a senior director to lead strategy and implementation within the Student Success Innovations team. The senior director will supervise a team that implements technology products and process improvement initiatives that enhance the student experience and enable student success. In pursuit of those goals, this role will work closely with Enterprise Technology, academic colleges, and student services units.
Student Success Innovations supports Salesforce Case Management, Salesforce Advisor Portal, Salesforce Knowledge, My ASU Help tab, E2E Advising Appointment Scheduler, and Enterprise Chatbot with business ownership and business analysis services, including requirements gathering, quality assurance, training, user support, reporting, and data analysis. These products are vital components of the university's service environment, used by 3,000 staff and over 500,000 students and community members every year.
In addition to providing functional IT leadership and supervising analysts, the senior director will partner with academic colleges and student services units to transform processes and enable innovative student success initiatives as a consultant, facilitator, and strategic planning partner. Within Student Success Innovations, the senior director will join a matrixed and highly collaborative leadership team, working together to drive innovation in digital transformation, student-centric communication, and academic and student services.
The ideal candidate will be a thorough strategist and caring leader with substantial experience in technology implementation, cross-functional leadership, and student services delivery.
Essential Duties:
- Provides overall management, technical, and financial direction for assigned teams and projects in support of department goals.
- Develops short- and long-range operating objectives, organizational structure, staffing requirements, and succession plans to ensure needs are met.
- Collaborates with Enterprise Technology information technology planning efforts to ensure consistency, integration, and coordination of systems and applications.
- Oversees and initiates appropriate personnel management activities such as hiring, training, and evaluation of staff specific to assigned teams and projects
- In consultation with stakeholders and impacted parties, sets business priorities for software development and implementation to align technical effort with department goals.
- Reviews, evaluates, and documents existing programs, processes, and systems to identify and recommend opportunities for integrations, enhancements, and efficiencies across assigned functions and processes.
- Works closely and collaboratively with functional areas to ensure that technology projects and process improvement initiatives are implemented successfully.
- Provides technical consultation and guidance on department programs, policies, and activities.
- Manages escalations, analyzes technical issues and root causes, and designs long-term solutions.
- Oversees the development of research and evaluation plans to measure impact and inform planning and decision-making.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including leaders, customers, and technology partners.
- Represents the department and may serve on department and university committees.

Working Environment:
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting. Activities include evaluating and interacting with information and interfaces that are primarily visual using computer workstations and mobile devices. Required to travel moderate distances on campus and between campuses to perform work. Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include resolving conflicts. Regular activities require the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing.
