About the Role
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Sr. Director will lead and scale a high-performing FP&A team to design and implement best-in-class financial and operational analysis, reporting, and transparency. This role is crucial for delivering strategic guidance to senior management, preparing essential board presentations, and ensuring the Finance organization serves as the analytical core for BrainPOP’s growth and operational efficiency.  

This leader will define the vision and strategy for the FP&A function, transforming raw data into actionable, high-impact insights that guide executive decision-making and support a balanced model of high growth and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a bias for action and a demonstrated track record of scaling an FP&A function within a dynamic, high-growth environment (preferably SaaS/Technology). This role requires a proactive "player-coach" who is ready to dive into the details while concurrently building, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing finance team.

In this Role You Will
I. Strategic Partnership & Decision Support
  • Elevate Transparency: Partner directly with the CEO, CFO, and senior leadership to define, build, and continuously improve financial and operational reporting, driving clear and consistent transparency into profitability drivers, key operating metrics, and performance scorecards.
  • Executive Storytelling: Own the preparation and delivery of all strategic financial materials, including quarterly and annual Board of Directors presentations and executive reviews, ensuring the insights are meaningful, consumable, and timely.
  • Business Partnering: Establish deep, collaborative relationships across all functional areas (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Product) to embed finance into strategic planning and drive optimal business outcomes.
  • Lead Strategic Analysis: Provide proactive, thought-leading analysis on business trends, assessing current and future risks and opportunities to ensure the company remains on track to achieve its long-term goals.  Support pricing strategy and deal desk efforts to ensure effective pricing protects both our margin while driving growth.
II. Financial Planning & Execution
  • Own Planning Cycles: Direct the entire annual budgeting, long-range planning, and continuous forecasting processes, collaborating closely with budget owners to ensure efficient, accurate, and reliable financial models.
  • Drive Process Improvement: Lead the journey in creating a "best-in-class" finance structure. Identify and implement system and process enhancements, leveraging technology to streamline financial processes and create capacity for high-value strategic analysis.
  • Operational Reporting: Oversee the team responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of monthly/quarterly financial and operational reporting packages, distilling key performance indicators and variances.
III. Team Leadership & Development
  • Mentor and Scale: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Finance professionals, fostering a culture of ownership, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

On Your Resume
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Financial Planning & Analysis 
  • Experience scaling an FP&A function within a dynamic, high-growth environment (SaaS/Technology strongly preferred)
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a geographically diverse or cross-functional team.
  • Expert-level financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis skills.
  • Exceptional executive-level communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing scalable financial processes and systems (e.g., Adaptive Planning, etc.).

Location
The BrainPOP team operates in a hybrid work environment: Each role has remote flexibility and an in-person component at our New York headquarters or other meeting locations. Based on the requirements of a specific position, we may prioritize hiring within a commutable distance of our New York headquarters or in another region relevant to that role.
