The Senior Director serves as a member of a leadership team that provides administrative, educational, and intellectual leadership to support the University's programs. Serve various constituencies at NYU (including students, faculty/staff, third parties, and administrators). Provide professional and technical leadership in the Office of Equal Opportunity by overseeing the University’s Affirmative Action (AA) program, Limited English Proficiency (LEP) program, and the Bias Response Line (BRL) as well as supporting the office as it investigates and resolves discrimination and harassment complaints on the basis of gender, marital status, pregnancy, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran status, or any other legally protected class. Provide oversight on trainings and workshops offered by the office as well as provide operational support for the functioning of the office including supporting the AVP with budgeting, workflow assessment, planning, personnel, data, and financial management. Qualifications: Required Education:
Juris Doctorate (J.D.)
Required Experience:
7+ years of relevant experience. Must include experience conducting investigations related to discrimination, harassment, misconduct, and/or retaliation, including experience supervising a team of legal and/or legal-adjacent professionals and experience developing and implementing Equal Opportunity and/or Affirmative Action programs..
Preferred Experience:
3+ years experience operationalizing processes and procedures in matters covered within OEO’s portfolio including data, reporting, budgeting, and staff oversight.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Familiarity with federal, New York State, and New York City legislation related to affirmative action, equal opportunity and the rights of individuals with disabilities. Complaint investigation skills and processes. Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential topics with a high degree of professionalism. Experience in presenting training programs and workshops on equal employment opportunity and affirmative action topics. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and good judgment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have demonstrated abilities in interpersonal relations, discretion, and interactions with diverse populations and perspectives.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of population studies, workforce analysis or related field and proven ability to apply a range of concepts, techniques and practices to carry out workforce diversity and inclusion program goals.
Additional Information: In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $160,000.00 to USD $200,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
