Description
Flatiron Books is looking for a senior editor of nonfiction, responsible for approximately 8-10 titles annually spanning a variety of practical and narrative categories. Duties will include identifying, acquiring, editing, and positioning a variety of books and working with the imprint’s departments to publish them successfully.

Candidates should have 5+ years of relevant experience and knowledge of the modern media landscape; established relationships with literary agents; fluency with contemporary book publishing; an eye for books that meet the needs of the moment, from a variety of viewpoints; and a genuine interest in working collaboratively and supporting the success of the team as a whole.

What you'll do:
  • Commission and acquire a range of nonfiction titles with strong critical, sales, and backlist potential and maintain strong agent network
  • Edit and develop manuscripts with an eye for strong sales potential
  • Prepare manuscripts for production and manage the production workflow process
  • Read and assess incoming projects as delegated by the Editor in Chief; attend editorial meetings and author meetings
  • Prepare materials for marketing and publicity, jackets, catalogs, launch meetings, sales conference, and other key opportunities
  • Liaise with departments and collaborate with key stakeholders from legal, art, marketing, publicity, and sales, including attending meetings
