Job Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for daily cash operations for Drexel University and its affiliate, The Academy of Natural Sciences (ANS). Core responsibilities include preparing the daily cash position, classifying cash transactions for comparison to budget, initiating money transfers and credit card refunds, and resolving any related issues in a timely manner.

This position serves as the University’s primary point of contact for all cash-related matters, providing ongoing support and assistance to Accounting, Institutional Advancement, the Bursar’s Office, Clinical Departments, Finance, and other units. The Senior Treasury Analyst will also manage the addition, deletion, and training of users on Drexel’s various banking systems.

The Senior Financial Analyst works closely with the Associate Treasurer to identify and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and align cash management practices with the University’s financial strategies.

The Treasury Department plays a vital role in supporting Drexel’s financial stability, liquidity management, and long-term planning. Through disciplined cash management, effective banking relationships, and strategic coordination with departments across the University, the Treasury team ensures that Drexel’s financial resources are safeguarded, accessible, and optimally deployed in support of the institution’s mission and goals.

Essential Functions

  • Daily Cash Management & Reporting
    • Prepare the Daily Cash Position Report for University senior management.
    • Monitor daily cash flow and bank operations for Drexel University and ANS.
    • Prepare and maintain multiple control summaries for daily cash activities and payment schedules for bank lines of credit, mortgage loans, bonds, and wire payments. o Prepare monthly cash reports and reconciliations.
  • Banking Transactions & Administration
    • Initiate wire, book, and ACH transfers for ANS and Drexel.
    • Coordinate bank account setup, closures, and transfers.
    • Complete credit card refund requests using Touchnet. 
  • Banking Systems & User Management
    • Add and train new users to the University’s Banking Information System.
    • Maintain proper access controls and documentation for all banking users. 
  • Departmental Support & Collaboration
    • Serve as the University’s primary point of contact for all cash-related issues.
    • Provide support and assistance to Accounting, Institutional Advancement, Bursar, Clinical Departments, Finance, and other units regarding cash accountability and reconciliation.
    • Provide accountability and reconciliation support for the annual audit.
  • Projects & Process Improvement
    • Assist the Associate Treasurer in researching, developing, initiating, and executing treasury-related projects.
    • Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and process improvement within Treasury functions. 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of one to three years of treasury, cash management, or banking experience.

  • Technical Skills: 
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial and banking systems.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to take on increased responsibility over time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education or the nonprofit sector is desirable but not required.

This position is classified as Exempt, grade L. Compensation for this grade ranges from $62,630.00 to $ 93,950.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
