The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 
Position Summary
The Senior Financial Coordinator is responsible for the daily financial activities and project coordination of a variety of fiscal activities within the Department of Psychiatry’s Central Business Office. Acting as a lead, the incumbent will work closely with the Finance Team to support administrative and financial transactions, including processing and reconciling the daily clerical, data entry and financial functions of the Columbia Psychiatry Business Office.

Responsibilities
  • Compile and process all financial paperwork in financial system daily; process cash deposits, gift transmittal, vouchers, invoices, create purchase requisitions and purchase orders. - 25%
  • Process supply orders for business office and various divisions within Psychiatry. Make purchases with p-card and reconcile transactions while keeping in mind university regulations and policies 20%
  • Assist with departmental quarterly and fiscal year close preparation. Respond to customer/vendor billing inquiries and other requests; reconcile vendor payments, create, and modify vendors, make sure vendors are set-up properly in the University system - 15%
  • Process pharmacy, MRI and animal care purchase orders and invoices as well as departmental software licenses while keeping detailed records. -10%
  • Act as an initial reviewer for departmental financial transactions including P-card reconciliations and purchase requisitions ensuring that all necessary documentation, information and projects meet University and departmental policies. - 10%
  • Assist with the monthly and quarterly budget variance analyses and updates in the Columbia budget system 10%
  • Assist and/or train department staff as needed. Assist the Procurement Manager with related tasks, reporting and deadlines -5%

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a financial office.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Other Requirements
  • Must successfully complete online systems training requirements.
