About our Team:
This is a position in the Research Data Platform team responsible for performing functional testing and developing and executing performance and automation testing solutions for a platform built to support large-scale data transformation, processing, and analytics workflows. The team focuses on ensuring quality, scalability, and reliability across data-driven applications and distributed systems.

About the Role:
This position works with the development team to develop functional testing, apply automation strategy and to plan and execute effective and efficient performance and automation testing to accomplish on-time and efficient delivery of high-quality software products and/or data.

Responsibilities:-
  • Innovating process improvements that enable efficient delivery and maintenance with consistent direction.
  • Researching available tools and lead or participate in initiatives to identify and implement those that will cost-effectively enhance testing capabilities and product quality
  • Developing and execute automated and performance testing for assigned projects to enable delivery of high-quality software products and services successfully and consistently on time, on budget, and to specification
  • Interacting with Product Management, Project Management, Engineering, and Operations teams to plan testing for delivery of products and enhancements and to assure products meet product requirements and quality standards.
  • Reporting issues and results, researching and identifying root causes as appropriate, documenting accordingly
  • Ensuring that testing addresses requirements as agreed with other stakeholders.
  • Conducting project reviews, ensuring review criteria are defined, and implementing procedures for ensuring quality control of project deliverables
  • Leading or participate in continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of best practices

Requirements:-
  • Demonstrated ownership for overall product quality, driving quality practices across development and testing activities.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, software development lifecycle, and process improvement practices.
  • Strong programming experience in Java with ability to design and maintain automation solutions.
  • Solid, hands-on automation testing experience - building, maintaining, and scaling automated test suites across functional, integration, and regression testing
  • Strong learning agility - comfortable picking up new tools and technologies on the job (e.g., Kafka, Databricks, Spark) with minimal ramp-up time if not already familiar
  • Ability to define effective test strategies and design comprehensive test scenarios covering functional, integration, and edge-case conditions
  • Experience testing micro services and distributed system architectures.
  • Strong SQL knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of AWS services or another cloud platform.
  • Understanding of CI/CD integration (Github Actions or similar)
  • Experience participating in PR reviews for test automation code quality, maintainability, and adherence to engineering standards
  • Strong analytical, research, and root cause analysis skills, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, and Operations
  • Experience supporting end-to-end (E2E) and integration testing across multiple systems and domains

Nice to Have:-
  • Experience testing event-driven systems using Kafka or similar messaging platforms
  • Exposure to data engineering or data quality testing, and working with formats like Parquet, XML, JSON, or large-scale datasets
  • Familiarity with schema validation approaches (e.g., SHACL or similar)
  • Understanding of Spark jobs or distributed data processing environments such as EMR
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks specifically (beyond SQL querying - e.g., notebooks, job orchestration)
  • Experience monitoring applications and analyzing logs using tools such as New Relic or similar observability platforms
  • Experience with Docker or other containerization technologies
