This position will work across the business units to understand their revenue transactions, build impactful reporting, and synthesize the data into executive level summaries. This position works closely with various departments within the organization using collaboration and interpersonal skills.  

The Senior Revenue Accountant will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing revenue agreements, sales transactions, and business models, to ensure accurate recognition, reporting, and compliance. To be successful in the role, ability to work well in a team, possess phenomenal detail orientation, and innovative within a fast-paced environment.   

What You’ll Do Here:
  • Supports cross-functional processes related to revenue while utilizing JD Edwards Enterprise One & Hyperion.
  • Partner with the business to understand their revenue and ensure proper revenue treatment in accordance with US GAAP (ASC-606).
  • Develop a strong understanding of SAP’s RAR, Cengage’s revenue processing system and be able to help research and troubleshoot transactions through the system.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the various transaction types and product set-up codes, and the impact of those and transactions and codes on reported financial information
  • Develop reporting and use that to inform the business and management
  • Develop analytical models to identify trends within sales, returns, and cost of goods sold.
  • Responsible for monthly reconciliations and waterfall schedules.
  • Responsible for the quarterly balance sheet causal presentations and disclosure preparation.
  • Follows control procedures and supports audit requests.
  • Participates in other duties as needed to meet department objectives and company goals.   

Skills You Will Need Here:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance desired
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with revenue transactions and accounting guidance around revenue
  • Solid understanding of MS Excel (pivots & lookups & Power Pivot); experience with a BI solution is a plus
  • Quantitatively inclined, results oriented, innovative, adaptable, strong attention to detail, and capable of working independently
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to identify exceptions and develop innovative and creative solutions
  • Strong Communication Skills to effectively collaborate with people across the company
  • Experience with ERP Systems such as Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards or Enterprise One and experience with management and consolidation tools similar to Hyperion.
  • Proficient with financial reporting and accounting systems and Microsoft Office programs.

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.  Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.$67,000.00 - $87,100.00 USD
