We are seeking a highly strategic, creative and data-driven Social Media Manager to lead the evolution and growth of ASU Online's social media presence. Every day you'll make a difference in the lives of others by managing the social media strategy end-to-end, including platform-specific strategy, executional leadership, and performance optimization across priority and emerging channels.

As the strategic owner of ASU Online's social ecosystem, you will be responsible for defining how each platform contributes to brand awareness, community engagement and enrollment outcomes. You will set the vision for channel growth, translate insights into action, and ensure our social media operates as a high-performing, audience-first engine rather than a tactical publishing function. Additionally, as the senior channel leader, you will lead a growing internal social team and partner closely with the Creative, Content, Communications, Paid Media and Analytics teams.

Essential Duties:

  • Own and lead ASU Online's social media strategy, setting the vision, priorities and success metrics across all platforms.
  • Define and maintain platform-specific strategies (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, emerging channels) aligned to audience behavior, platform norms and business goals.
  • Translate priorities, campaign goals, and brand pillars into channel-level strategies that drive engagement, growth and community connection.
  • Own social media performance outcomes, with community engagement as the primary KPI, supported by reach, growth and downstream impact.
  • Lead platform-specific testing, experimentation and optimization to improve creative performance and audience resonance.
  • Set the strategic direction for social content, ensuring creative is platform-native, audience-first, and brand-authentic.
  • Partner with Creative, Content, Communications, Paid Media and Analytics teams to shape content concepts, executional approaches and integrated marketing initiatives.
  • Serve as the people manager and strategic lead for the social media function, providing coaching, prioritization and performance feedback to support team growth.
  • Establish clear workflows that enable efficient publishing, quality control and rapid iteration.
  • Act as the central point of accountability for social media, aligning stakeholders around strategy, priorities and execution.
  • Stay current on platform updates, emerging formats, and cultural trends, bringing forward recommendations to evolve strategy and support continuous improvement.
  • Assume or coordinate other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

NOTE: This is not a fully remote position. Must be able to reliably commute to Scottsdale, Arizona.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Experience owning and leading social media strategy, including platform-specific growth strategies, in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
  • Evidence of strong understanding of how major social platforms differ in audience behavior, content strategy and performance drivers.
  • Demonstrated ability to use performance data, audience insights, and testing to inform strategy and optimize results.
  • Experience leading or managing social media teams, with the ability to coach, prioritize, and scale impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with creative, content, communications, paid media and analytics partners.
  • Demonstrated comfort balancing strategic ownership with operational execution and decision-making.
  • Evidence of familiarity with social media management, analytics and project management tools.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders around platform best practices and priorities.
  • Demonstrated passion for mission-driven marketing and audience-centered storytelling.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Evidence of curiosity, adaptability and enthusiasm for mission-driven marketing and learner success.

NOTE: Please answer the following questions in your cover letter:

  • How do you approach developing strategy by platform rather than one-size-fits-all content?
  • Tell us about a time you used performance insights to change or evolve a channel strategy.
