Job/Department Summary:
Under general supervision of the Director of Strategic Marketing, the Social Media Strategist develops and implements organic social media strategies and initiatives that support Chico State’s brand and advance University marketing, communications, and visibility goals. The position manages the University’s social media presence, including content planning, audience engagement, content development, and performance analysis, using social media trends, analytics, and audience insights to inform strategy and recommend ongoing improvements. The Strategist also provides lead work direction and training to student employees and collaborates with social media managers and content creators across campus to share best practices and support coordinated efforts.

Required Education and Experience:
Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
  • Experience in higher education, nonprofit, public-sector, or other mission-driven communications.
  • Advanced skills in photography, video production/editing, graphic design, or other digital content production.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $62,136 (Step 1) - $90,516 (Step 20) per year.
