At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Los Angeles, CA! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, youâll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Los Angeles, CA!
Details:
- In-Person Tutoring in Los Angeles, CA!
- Schedule: 10 hours per month; 1 session a week for 1.25 hours
- Rate is betweem $25 and $35 per hour
Ideal Candidate:
- Valid teaching credential required
- Strong background in teaching high school Chemistry
- Experience supporting students with intellectual disabilities and diverse learning needs
- Ability to explain complex chemistry concepts in multiple ways to support comprehension
- Strong background in reading comprehension, writing, and English Language Arts
- Solid math skills to support high school-level coursework
- Skilled in providing structured, step-by-step instruction with visual supports
- Patient, calm, and consistent, with the ability to support slower processing speeds
- Able to build student confidence through positive reinforcement and clear communication
- Comfortable conducting an academic assessment to guide instruction
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct an initial tutor assessment to determine current academic levels and needs
- Provide targeted instruction in high school Chemistry using multiple teaching strategies and real-world examples
- Support reading comprehension and ELA skills, including writing, organization, and critical thinking
- Reinforce math concepts as needed to support overall academic success
- Break down complex concepts into manageable, step-by-step instruction
- Use visual aids, repetition, and guided practice to support retention and understanding
- Implement structured sessions with consistent routines and pacing
- Support development of study skills, organization, and executive functioning
- Provide a calm, supportive, and encouraging learning environment
- Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on student needs
- Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding progress and strategies
