Required Certificates and Licenses: Michigan Teaching Certification Required. Must have a Special Education Certificate.
Residency Requirements: Must reside in Michigan.
The Special Programs Parent Liaison is responsible for providing a range of school-wide services to parents to help set the right tone for their academic success in the virtual school program. The position works to coordinate family needs within state and federal guidelines. The role acts as a support for communication between parents and the school to provide a positive outcome for students participating in special programs.
This is a contractor position.

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
- Communicate with Learning Coaches when concerns or issues arise from school staff or the family to understand the family and student’s needs and explain school responsibilities in parent-friendly language.
- Serve as a liaison between the student, Learning Coach and teachers to ensure that all school personnel understand how to contact and communicate with the student in a manner that builds ties between the student and the school
- Serve as a District Representative for identified IEP or 504 meetings.
- Provide individualized attention and support to students and Learning Coaches identified for training gaps or requested networking within the school community
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education
- Two (2) years of experience work with families in a similar capacity
- Equivalent (5 years) combination of education and experience
Certificates and Licenses: Special Education License
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with online learning environment
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
- Ability to clear required background check
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) years of experience working with families in a similar capacity, developing parent mentors/parent training, and/or facilitating community involvement
- Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Human Services or related field of study
