About the Role
Pearson's Office of the CTO organization is seeking a skilled and strategic Business Analyst to partner with our HR and Legal technology teams. This role will serve as the connective tissue between business stakeholders and technology delivery, ensuring that requirements are clearly defined, thoroughly evaluated, and thoughtfully prioritized before development begins.
You will have a front-row seat at the intersection of business need and technical delivery, helping leaders articulate their vision, deconstruct complex requests, and define problems in a structured, actionable way. The ideal candidate is not just a note-taker, but a thinker—someone who can challenge assumptions, connect the dots, and ensure the organization makes smart, informed decisions about technology change.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full end-to-end requirements scoping and analysis for HR and Legal technology initiatives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate ideas into clear, comprehensive, and validated business requirements.
- Distinguish between overlapping or interdependent business needs, ensuring all solution designs consider the broader process and technology landscape.
- Partner closely with the Delivery Manager and development teams to ensure accurate and complete backlog grooming.
- Promote a structured and consistent approach to requirements gathering, championing the adoption of an enterprise-wide process as it evolves.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions to elicit, document, and refine business requirements.
- Support evaluation of new technology solutions, particularly for Legal, where requirements may extend beyond existing platforms.
- Maintain traceability between business needs, solution design, and delivered functionality.
- Provide thought leadership to stakeholders, ensuring alignment across HR and Legal initiatives and minimizing rework due to unclear or changing scope.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of business analysis experience, preferably within enterprise technology or digital transformation teams.
- Strong track record of gathering, documenting, and managing complex business requirements end-to-end.
- Experience working across cross-functional teams and translating non-technical business needs into technical requirements.
- Proven ability to challenge assumptions diplomatically and guide stakeholders toward clear, actionable requests.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
- Experience working in agile delivery environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HR systems such as Oracle Fusion HCM, Saba, Degreed , or other HRIS/LMS/LXP platforms.
- Familiarity with Legal technology platforms such as Ironclad CLM, ServiceNow, Onit, TrustArc , or similar tools.
- Exposure to enterprise service management tools and backlog management processes (e.g., Jira, or ServiceNow).
- Background in corporate technology or shared services environments.
