Job Description
Position Overview:
The Special Education Paraprofessional at KIPP Kansas City plays a vital role in supporting students with disabilities by providing individualized assistance and support in the classroom. This position is designed to help ensure that students receive a high-quality education and have access to the resources and accommodations necessary for their success. The Special Education Paraprofessional will work closely with special education teachers and other staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support student learning.

Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Support:
  • Assist the special education teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students during instruction, helping to reinforce concepts and skills.
  • Adapt instructional materials and methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
Behavioral Support:
  • Support students in managing their behavior and emotions, using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques as needed.
  • Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Collaborate with the special education team to develop and implement behavioral intervention plans.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Communicate effectively with the special education teacher regarding student progress, challenges, and successes.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of strategies to support students.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to school policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma (required).
  • Associate’s degree or completion of 60 college credit hours (preferred).
  • Paraprofessional certification required
  • Experience working with students with disabilities or in a school setting (preferred).
