Duties and Responsibilities Identify critical topics for student success at both course and cohort levels to improve retention and graduation rates. Develop dashboards based on critical topics and strategic planning priorities. Plan, organize, and coordinate data workshops and dashboard training for the Data Discernment Initiative Champions (DDIC) group and various campus constituents to broaden data literacy and competencies. Guide faculty and staff to utilize self-service visualization tools for unit, college/school, and university-wide success to improve institutional efficiency. Familiarize yourself with advanced data manipulation and visualization tools, including SQL and Tableau/Power BI. Lead the creation of a Data Dictionary for Institutional Research & Assessment’s (IR&A) frequently used data elements and derived variables, and identify mapping mechanisms to PeopleSoft tables. Design a framework for IR&A’s advanced data warehousing structure and revamp its infrastructure so that the unit’s analysts can directly and efficiently extract data via SQL coding. Support the Data Cookbook project to advance the Data Governance Initiative and promote a data-driven and evidence-based culture at LUC. Generate and maintain up-to-date dashboard-related documentation, including descriptions/summaries, objectives, audiences, and revisions of the dashboards. Manage and support dashboard project timelines and deliverables to ensure developers’ visualization activities stay on track. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including program leaders, stakeholders, and external partners. Create performance indicator metrics in alignment with university strategic planning at the university, college/school, and department levels. Track ranking KPI templates annually and provide insights and recommendations for IR&A leadership. Provide oversight for junior analysts and/or graduate student researchers.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience Five or more years of experience in an academic setting with progressive responsibilities
Ph.D. Preferred
Qualifications | Earned a master’s degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Economics, Statistics, or a related field. Possess a minimum of two years of experience in data analysis and using analytical tools. Synthesize and present complex data in a clear, actionable format to drive strategic decision-making. Experienced in conducting research and analysis, utilizing tools such as SPSS or Power BI. Knowledgeable about the cultures and structures of higher education, with a commitment to fostering inclusive excellence. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses Knowledge of Statistical Concepts, Ability to quickly learn new computer and math skills, Understanding of LUC data, Strong executive functioning skills (Organization, time management, focus, ability to switch between tasks) Education: BA in Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Business Data, Economics Licensure: None Required, but once hired do CITI Training Experience: 0 to 2 years Unique requirements/special abilities needed: Technical expertise: SPSS, Excel
Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and SPSS, SAS, or R.
