Summary
The Senior Trainer, Learning and Development, will plan, develop, facilitate, and manage training programs throughout the organization. This role focuses on enhancing employee skills, supporting business objectives, promoting continuous professional growth, and reporting directly to the Head of Training and Development. This role will partner cross-functionally with the Training Council to align training with strategic goals, delivering a consistent and high-impact learning experience.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
  • Design interactive experiential learning content and facilitate training sessions on leadership and competency-based training to improve productivity and support the overall development of team members.
  • Create training materials, eLearning modules, job aids, and blended learning solutions that reflect adult learning principles and company objectives.
  • Partner with department heads to identify training needs and develop tailored solutions for different teams or roles.
  • Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness using assessments, feedback, and key performance indicators; continuously refine programs based on results.
  • Coach and support cross-functional trainers, serving as a subject matter expert in instructional design and facilitation.
  • Oversee the administration and optimization of the Learning Management System (LMS) for smooth delivery and tracking of training programs.
  • Collaborate with HR, Compliance, IT, Sales, and other departments to ensure consistent and relevant training delivery.
  • Ensure training activities support the development of Greenbrier’s leadership competencies and align with the company strategy and core values.
  • Connect with people and build strong relationships across diverse audiences, operating with a high degree of emotional intelligence.
  • Lead through influence, enthusiasm, and inspiring leadership, collaborating effectively across functional areas.
  • Implement improvements in systems, processes, and procedures to enhance effectiveness.
  • Deliver developmental training to leaders across the organization, including programs such as Leadership Development, Continuous Improvement, Performance Management, and Employee Engagement.
  • Work independently, exercising sound judgment in all activities.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and openness, adapting plans as organizational needs change.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in Business, Education, Organizational Development, Human Resources or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate training or organizational development, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead training role.
  • Extensive experience in instructional design principles and adult learning theory, Proficient in training tools and technology (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Articulate, LMS platforms) and skilled in identifying process improvements and developing efficient solutions.
  • Exceptional communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills, combined with high emotional intelligence and a flexible training facilitation style.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic, global manufacturing environment.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop long-term plans and strategies for training programs to support organizational goals.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in managing training materials, methodologies, and data tracking to ensure accuracy.
  • Results-Driven: Focus on achieving measurable improvements in training effectiveness and employee performance.
  • Effective Communication: Confidence in presenting training content to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Adaptability: Enthusiasm for embracing change and improving learning methods to stay updated with industry standards.

  • Certifications on Insights, DISC, 360 Tools, Continuous Improvement, and formal change management experience.
