Job Description | The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire supplier sourcing process, from identifying the University needs and selecting suppliers in coordination with University Stakeholders to developing the RFP end to end process, negotiating multi-million-dollar contracts inclusive of the best price, quality, and service and managing long-term supplier relationships. The goal is to maximize value and savings and minimize risk for the University. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will develop and implement supplier source strategy, including defining sourcing needs, conducting market research, identifying potential suppliers, implementing the RFP process and developing strategies to acquire goods and services. Analyze spend patterns, forecast cost savings opportunities, and implement cost reduction initiatives plan and annual cost savings targets. Assess and mitigate risk to ensure all suppliers maintain corporate responsibility, advocate for sustainable and ethical sourcing practices.
Education and Experience | Bachelor’s degree, preference in Supply Chain Management. Five plus years of experience in Higher Education, Defense or regulated industry developing all major RFPs including the facilitation of the RFP to supplier selection and award process with key stakeholders, development of sourcing strategies, commodity and market analysis and trending.
Skills and Knowledge | Ability to coach and mentor Buyers to manage their commodities supported by KPIs and lead the implementation of the Supplier Performance Management Program.
Responsibilities |
Develop and implement supplier source strategy: This includes defining sourcing needs, conducting market research, identifying potential suppliers, and developing strategies to acquire goods and services.
Implement and lead Supplier Program Management:Implement supplier scorecards and QBRs, evaluate supplier performance and trend data, collaborate with key stakeholders to mitigate supplier risk and poor performance.
Supplier selection and Management: Evaluate supplier capabilities, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships to ensure performance and compliance. Develop and maintain collaborative supplier relationships. Ability to manage multiple sourcing projects from RFP initiation to completion to include planning, execution and monitoring.
Cost Analysis and Savings: Analyze spend patterns. Identify cost savings opportunities and implement cost reduction initiatives. Leverage data analytics (and create them as needed) and technology to streamline processes forecast demand and track supplier performance.
