Job Summary
The Student Case Coordinator will facilitate services and resources for UTA students referred or who may contact the Office of the Dean of Students for the first time or who may need support for an acute academic, social, personal, or health concern. The Student Case Coordinator will also assist the Dean of Students Case Manager and the Case Manager for Care Team with an ongoing student caseload of students who have requested medical/compassionate withdrawal or who may be experiencing non-critical behavior intervention issues.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $46,000 to $48,000. The final offer will be based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
Serves as the first point of contact for students seeking support services from the Office of the Dean of Students, including telephone and email communication. Triages referrals from other University offices and/or staff, or student self-referrals by phone, email, or walk-in office visits. Facilitates intake assessments to determine immediate student needs and determine the level of support and intervention required, including providing resource referrals. Collaborates with the Case Manager for Care Team to ensure a higher level of support, if warranted. Assists with the submission review efforts by the Dean of Students Case Manager of medical/compassionate withdrawals requests. Assists with the creation and ongoing development of a student peer advocacy program, supporting educational and programmatic initiatives of the Dean of Students. Ensures the Dean of Students staff maintains accurate and comprehensive documentation for all student interactions in the office case management database. Supports the Dean of Students staff in building relationships with campus and community partners. Champions the support services and resources available through the Division of Student Affairs by participating in campus outreach efforts, events, and trainings. Serves as the liaison between departments responsible for meeting students basic needs. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications  | Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in social work, psychology, sociology, social policy, public health, or related field. Previous experience working in an educational setting. Understanding of the application of FERPA, medical privacy guidelines, and other applicable laws and policies.

Preferred Qualifications  | Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Social Work, higher education and student affairs, counseling, public health, or related field. Previous experience managing a caseload of clients/students. Understanding of mental health terminology. Direct experience working with traditional/non-traditional aged college students. Utilization and knowledge of the Maxient database system or other electronic case management system.

Knowledge of customer service best practices and ability to implement those practices. Ability to assess services and learning outcomes. Ability to determine when a situation warrants emergent intervention. Ability to identify problems, use sound judgment and reasoning to make crucial decisions autonomously, and mediate conflict. Ability to maintain the privacy of work-related matters and documents. Ability to take initiative and to balance multiple priorities. Clear and sensitive written and oral communication skills.
