Student Data Analyst - Recreation and Wellbeing Full Description

Department Overview:

The Recreation and Wellness department's mission is to move Badgers to play hard, get fit, and live well. Our Vision is to build a movement of healthy habits through inclusion, education, innovation, and connection.

The Data Analyst will be a member of the Assessment Committee of Rec Well. The Assessment Committee is made up of Rec Well professionals who have the responsibility to implement, analyze, and communicate the results of internal and external surveys for Rec Well. This position will report to a Chair within the Assessment Committee and its three Sub-committees.

5 hours/week. Partial remote and in person work times. Flexible schedule. Seeking someone who can be in the position for 2 years.

Qualifications:

- Strong foundation in statistics and hands-on experience with tools such as Excel.
- Proven ability to analyze, structure, and present large data sets with clarity.
- Strong written and verbal communication and organization skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Will learn to use Qualtrics including building and testing surveys, implementing skip logic and display logic, managing distribution lists, exporting datasets, and ensuring data quality.
- Knowledge of survey methodology principles (question design, response scales, bias reduction, sampling considerations) or willingness to learn.
- Maintaining timelines for survey development, administration, analysis, and reporting
- Create written project & longitudinal reports and graphs.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

- Survey Design. Collaborate with stakeholders to design and administer surveys related to Rec Well programs, student experiences, and institutional effectiveness.
- Data Interpretation. Collaborate with departmental and external administrative units to interpret assessment data in the context of programmatic and institutional goals and create relevant reports.
- Work with the Rec Well professional staff on the Assessment Committee to help administer 3 biennial surveys and others as needed.
- Help maintain longitudinal data and keep organized records of previous survey materials and responses.
- Collaborate with other Rec Well employees and campus staff as needed for various needs (approvals, reviews, consultations, etc.).
- Maintain a timeline of tasks and duties that include preparation and administration of surveys, the collection and analysis of the data, and what communication channels and messages are planned to share this information.
- Review and edit survey instruments with feedback from Assessment committee.
- Attend at least 2 meetings a month.
- Other duties as assigned.
