Job Description
Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, has an immediate need for a full-time Student Engagement Program Coordinator in the Office of Student Life. The work schedule is Monday-Friday 8:30 am -5:00 pm with evenings and weekends depending upon the need and the event or activity being held. This is a non-bargaining, non-exempt, grade 27 position. Non-exempt positions are not eligible to work a secondary job at Montgomery College. This position is located in Rockville, MD.

Montgomery College promotes and creates a working and learning environment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, belonging and inclusiveness. This position is eligible for one day of telework per week depending on the needs of the unit.

Under supervision and with direction from the Director of Student Life, the Student Engagement Program Coordinator, design and oversee implementation of events and programs that support and enhance the student experience, contributing to retention and engagement of students. Formulates and plans programs that reflect the changing and diverse nature of the student body and community. Plans, coordinates, and implements special programs, events, and activities on behalf of the Student Engagement Unit.

Duties include but are not limited to: 
  • Plans, coordinates, implements and manages student programs, including scheduling venues, ordering food and supplies, initiating contracts, and working with vendors.
  • Assesses the need for programming based on student interests, current trends, and compliance requirements.
  • Develops and coordinates events for various student populations, including but not limited to first-gen students, international students, parenting students, and traditional, nontraditional, and distance-learning students.
  • Coordinates efforts for New Student Orientation (NSO) events such as Raptor Day, and coordinates and manages the online New Student Orientation program.
  • Advises the Student Activities Board.
  • Supports existing programs by participating in tabling activities, recruiting students for events, and volunteering for events.
  • Promotes awareness about special initiatives and engagement opportunities to students.
  • Develops and implements Student Engagement initiatives focused on retention and creating a sense of belonging.
  • Develops and maintains event publications, flyers, social media, website information, and email listservs for programmatic efforts.
  • Creates and maintains data, assessments, and written reports for all programs.
  • Provides other support functions within the area of Student Engagement as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three years' experience in administrative support, program management, and event planning.
  • The equivalent combination of education, training, certification, or experience which provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage events and address potential problems that may arise.
  • Prior experience in managing budgets and tracking expenses.
  • Knowledge and expertise in managing social media platforms.
  • A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Hiring Range $31.69 - $41.19 per hour. Initial salary placement is based on candidate experience and internal equity. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity.  The maximum salary for this position is $50.69 per hour.
