Job Summary  | The Director of Student Organizations and Activities (SOA) provides strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for more than 700 registered and sponsored student organizations including the Student Government Association (SGA), Graduate Student Congress (GSC), Student Activities Board (SAB), WRFL Student Radio, and DanceBlue. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing programs and policies that foster student engagement, student involvement, leadership development, and retention. The Director also provides leadership for major campus traditions and large-scale events, including K Week/Welcome Week, Homecoming, and other university-wide initiatives that enhance community, spirit, and connection.

The Director supervises a team of dynamic professional and student staff, manages departmental budgets and facilities, and provides training and guidance to student organization advisors and staff across campus. Through collaboration, planning, and innovation, this role advances the University’s commitment to student success by cultivating vibrant engagement opportunities where students can gain the relationships, skills, and experiences that will positively influence their educational and career trajectories.

Student Success will, from the time of early college outreach to graduation and beyond, support students in living a life of meaning and purpose. From a student-centered framework, our practice will be grounded in peer-reviewed literature, national best practices, and data-informed decision making. Collaborating with the campus and community, Student Success will work through a holistic lens to support a community of learners in achieving success.
