Department Summary
The Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism is an ACEJMC-accredited school with the only professionally accredited journalism master’s program in the four-state region of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Arkansas. The school is located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, in one of the largest media markets in the country. We offer journalism classes in public relations, advertising, print/digital, broadcast/digital, and photojournalism. The Mayborn enrolls approximately 750 undergraduate students and 50 graduate students. Graduates have won many national and international awards, including Pulitzer Prizes. The school offers students multi-platform professional opportunities including the award-winning North Texas Daily student newspaper, Denton Public Access TV, and student-run photography and ad/PR agencies. The school also hosts the annual Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference, the nationally acclaimed conference for aspiring and experienced writers, journalists and authors.

Position Overview
This entry-level position is responsible for coordinating various aspects of student support and outreach. This includes a variety of administrative duties such as support of student organizations, the MSOJ scholarship process, recruiting, retention and job placement efforts, all Mayborn events, and assists faculty with student programs. This position coordinates tutoring with graduate students and tutors Mayborn undergraduates as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and one year of professional related experience in coordinating or administering higher education programming or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Job Duties
Coordinate and execute high school outreach by maintaining databases and utilizing communication plans. Collaborate with advising and marketing for recruiting efforts and attend recruitment events.Assist Mayborn staff with administrative duties including, but not limited to, maintaining office and kitchen supplies, asset inventory, facility work orders, and the Mayborn scholarship process from application to distribution. Help with reception duties for front office. Help organize and attend Mayborn annual events with the MSOJ staff. Maintain and update database of student contact information from admit reports and orientation rosters. Communicate with prospective students through various communication strategies with relevant program details, and updates based on application and enrollment progress. Provide administrative support for student organizations, media, and agencies by managing budgets, processing transactions, and serving as the primary contact. Monitor the Mayborn email accounts and support various student events. Provide administrative support for the Mayborn student workshops, including budget management, recordkeeping, coordinating on-campus stays, and assisting with general needs. Coordinate with faculty supervisors for student internship credit approvals. Assist students in enrolling for internship credits and maintain placement records. Coordinate with businesses and nonprofits to post internships on Handshake. Support the Career Coach and represent Mayborn in Career Center meetings. Support mentor initiatives, Living Learning Community, and coordinate tutoring with graduate student mentors. Tutors Mayborn undergraduates as needed. Provide administrative service to the school's scholarship committee, including tracking scholarship eligibility requirements, processing student applications, and handling communications. Provide administrative service in managing student employee hiring and payroll.
