Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the CBA. This position is FLSA Non-exempt (may accrue overtime). Excellent Benefits are provided to all Contract employees with assignments greater than, or equal to, 50% (0.50 FTE) and all eligible dependents. The Position  | San Diego City College, the region’s leading college of social justice, is seeking a highly motivated educator who is committed to equity in action to serve as the Student Services Technician in the Promise Office. Under the direction of the Director of Promise and Outreach, the Student Services Technician supports the journey of all current and prospective Promise students, providing equitable, student-centered guidance from entry to completion.

Applications are currently being accepted for Student Services Technician in the Promise office under the Outreach and Community Relations unit, located at San Diego City College. Hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department’s needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

Desired Qualifications  | Demonstrated commitment to equity in action and social justice, with experience serving diverse student populations including first-generation, low-income, undocumented, and veteran students. Knowledge of college admissions, enrollment, and transfer requirements, as well as familiarity with financial aid processes such as FAFSA/Dream Act and Promise program eligibility requirements. Experience providing student-centered technical assistance, including explaining policies, procedures, and requirements clearly to students and families. Strong skills in evaluating and maintaining student records, transcripts, and tracking Promise program compliance with accuracy and confidentiality. Proficiency with student information systems, spreadsheets, and databases (e.g., PeopleSoft, Excel) to monitor student progress, generate reports, and support program compliance. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate Promise orientations, workshops, and student success activities in collaboration with staff, peer mentors, and other departments. Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare correspondence, reports, and program materials. Experience providing training, guidance, or work direction to student assistants or peer mentors, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment. Knowledge of district, state, and federal policies related to admissions, records, and special student services programs. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze situations, recommend solutions, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercising discretion and sound judgment in a fast-paced, student-focused environment.
Foreign Degree:  | Applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC.(ACEI).
