Posting Title: Success Coach Overview: 
The Success Coach at the Conway School of Nursing (CSON) supports students facing academic and personal challenges that hinder their success and reports to the Assistant Dean for the Accelerated BSN Program. 

The coach provides personalized coaching and interventions, helping students develop and implement action plans to overcome obstacles. 

The overall goal of this position is to minimize student attrition. 

Responsibilities: 
  • Works closely with and reports to the Assistant Dean of the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Pathway.
  • Partners with faculty and staff to stay informed about course content, student progress, and departmental policies.
  • Contributes to undergraduate program evaluation through committee participation, engaging faculty and leadership to better understand student performance, course interest, and success, and overall program achievement.
  • Provides individualized success coaching to undergraduate nursing students.
  • Guides students through educational planning to help them achieve their academic goals.
  • Advises students on academic strategies, including time management, organization, note-taking, reading, study skills, and well-being.
  • Empowers students to communicate effectively with faculty and access resources such as financial aid, tutoring, counseling, career services, and disability support services.
  • Holds office hours to meet with students and documents advising interactions in EAB Navigate.
  • Proactively identifies and contacts at-risk students, connecting them to appropriate support services.
  • Monitors and evaluates student GPAs and identifies students at risk of failing to meet matriculation requirements in the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
  • Meets with students to explain GPA requirements and help calculate necessary grades.
  • Tracks and analyzes student progression data, including GPAs, retakes, and HESI scores. Uses HESI Exam Prep Resources to develop individual remediation plans with students to address areas of weakness and evaluates response to remediation while revising plans as needed.
  • Maintains the student progression database.
  • Notifies the Assistant Dean of the Accelerated BSN Program and the associate dean of students whose performance warrants probation or dismissal from the CSON or the university.
  • Ensures privacy and confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA regulations.
  • Supports CUA admissions and recruitment events and collaborates with faculty on student assessments and student events.
  • Serves as a resource for graduating students, including resume building, mock interviewing, and graduate residencies.
  • Participates in the ABSN non-academic cohort LMS, including management of graduation information.
 
Qualifications:
Educational & Experience Requirements
 
BSN required, Master's degree in Nursing is preferred

A minimum of 5 years as a practicing registered nurse with an active DC RN License.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to interpret data, follow complex directions, and multitask.
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Ability to multi-task and use computer software tracking tools effectively and efficiently
