WPS, a leading publisher of psychological testing and educational assessment products, is seeking an accomplished Senior Supply Chain Operations Director to spearhead and optimize our Warehouse, Fulfillment, Facilities, International Logistics, and Procurement divisions. This pivotal role will involve collaborating closely with departmental managers to elevate operational efficiency and ensure seamless processes that resonate with the company's values and strategic objectives. This role will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and fostering sustained growth for WPS. 
 
Essential Responsibilities:  

  • Provide strategic direction for core operational functions, encompassing Warehouse Management, Fulfillment, Facilities, Procurement, and International Logistics. 
  • Guide and mentor departmental managers to enhance skill sets and align capabilities with organizational goals and values. 
  • Implement robust project management practices to streamline end-to-end warehouse, shipping, and receiving processes, while continually optimizing operations. 
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive metrics and dashboards to monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and facilitate data-driven decision-making. 
  • Establish and communicate high standards for efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective resource utilization across all operational domains. 
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional departments to minimize lead times, reduce costs, and enhance on-time delivery for customers. 
  • Strategically negotiate with vendors to secure advantageous terms in terms of pricing, quality, and service levels, particularly focusing on optimizing the procurement process for assessment kits. 
  • Work in tandem with the COO to define operational objectives, set budgets, and implement effective cost controls. 
  • Evaluate team performance against established policies and procedures, providing regular coaching and feedback to drive continuous improvement. 
  • Drive process enhancements in inventory management to optimize stock levels and minimize shortages. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and legal guidelines to mitigate operational risks effectively. 
  • Monitor safety protocols and procedures to mitigate risks and uphold a secure working environment for all employees. 
  • Oversee the import/export processes for WPS products, managing customs, tariffs, and compliance matters efficiently. 
  • Ensure the accuracy and currency of data within the ERP system to support informed decision-making and operational efficiency. 
  • Work collaboratively with other senior leaders to drive company-wide objectives through proactive communication, data-driven insights, and strategic decision-making. 
     
Position Requirements (Skills, Knowledge, Abilities): 

  • 10+ years of successful leadership experience in warehouse, fulfillment, or manufacturing environments. 
  • Proven track record in guiding and expanding procurement functions effectively. 
  • Strong background in Six Sigma, Lean, or similar process improvement methodologies. 
  • Excellent organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Thorough understanding of industry regulations and legal compliance requirements. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and idea presentation. 
  • Ability to forecast issues and make timely adjustments to plans to mitigate risks effectively. 
  • Demonstrated ability to present ideas persuasively and garner support from stakeholders. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on understanding and nurturing the growth and development of team members. 
     
Physical Requirements: 

  • Specific vision abilities: Close and Distance vision. 
  • Auditory/hearing abilities for phone or online conferencing. 
  • Ability to use hands for computer operation and to navigate a warehouse environment. 
  • Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs., and/or up to 40 lbs. of force. 
  • Climbing up and down ladders on occasion. 
 
Travel: 

  • Reliably commute daily to the office in Torrance, CA, or plan to relocate within a reasonable driving distance before starting work.
