The Opportunity:
This position develops and implements the enterprise-wide vision, strategy, and learning programs, including Velera’s internal employees and clients. Internally oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of learning strategies, programs, methods, and systems that facilitate professional development and continuous learning. Externally and client-facing, oversee knowledge management and training delivery business models and strategies, programs, systems, and operational consulting services for client-site, in-resident, and online training to facilitate knowledge transfer, performance, and process improvement. Incumbent will engage Velera’s Velocity Team and Business Unit Leaders to ensure the Learning & Operational Excellence business unit is performance aligns with the strategic plan, integration plans, and service model. This position also develops strategic direction for the institutionalization of process innovation and operational excellence throughout all divisions, lines of business, new product development, member integration, supply chain management, and performance management of both core and enabling processes. Additionally, the incumbent provides strategic direction for the technology center of process excellence that supports the ongoing maintenance and development of the technologies that are used to create and automate workflow, inclusive of BPM technologies, Robotic Process, and Intelligent Automation.
Day in the Life:
- Lead all Learning & Operational Excellence business unit functions, including Learning Systems, Employee Learning, Client Learning, and Enterprise Operational Excellence.
- Develop the Learning and Operational Excellence vision and strategy for Velera, aligning action plans with organizational needs; partner collaboratively with business and Human Resources leaders to create and evolve Velera’s learning vision and organizational development strategy.
- Provide strategic direction and champion efforts to identify and institutionalize processes, tools, and methodologies that enable and maintain the long-term success of the company’s operational excellence initiatives.
- Provide strategic direction and champion the product development lifecycle for BPM, RPA, and IA platforms
- Provide strategic direction in close partnership with business unit senior leadership on the establishment of successful KPIs.
- Oversee the evolution, promotion, and sustainment of Velera’s Learning Organization strategy, supported by a robust learning ecosystem that leverages a balance of technology and human capital to provide comprehensive, accessible, and effective training and development.
- Oversee the design of learning interventions based on needs, scale, structure, programs, processes, and systems that facilitate organizational effectiveness and support sustainable competitive advantage.
- Direct needs assessment, design, implementation, and evaluation of learning programs that facilitate professional development and continuous learning of employees across the Velera organization and Velera-related learning programs for our owner credit unions.
- Ensure alignment of learning (both delivery and resources) for internal employees and external client team members with business plans and strategies, integrating adult learning principles, adaptive learning, and workflow learning with desired business outcomes.
- Measure and evaluate learning initiatives; drive continuous improvement of the overall quality of learning and development investments and training experiences across Organizational Effectiveness customers.
- Ensure alignment and scalability of the external training delivery business model with the current Velera client service model to meet the needs of Velera’s financial institution clients.
- Partner with Product and Information Technology Business Unit Leaders on technology-based product and systems learning strategies to provide scale, improve the learner experience, and increase speed to proficiency.
- Partner with Client Product Delivery and Client Service Delivery Business Unit Leaders on matrixed relationships between Client Learning, CDE, and CSD on the delivery of services for owner credit unions.
- Develop and monitor annual budget for assigned business unit; Ensure legal, ethical, and regulatory compliance of all initiatives.
- Maintain knowledge of the people organizational policies and programs, and of laws and best practices for learning, to ensure that practices align with the culture of the organization.
- Provide technical advice and knowledge to others within the Learning and Organizational Development discipline.
- Provide direction and leadership to staff; guide, coach, mentor, and develop staff, ensuring compliance with processes and procedures.
- Handle interviewing, hiring, promotions, transfers, performance appraisals, compensation, counseling,g and termination of staff.
- Develop and maintain staff by applying the necessary training and leadership that will allow internal growth and advancement.
- Direct staff to ensure that all duties are performed according to department performance standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, General Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Learning, Psychology, or related field required
- Emphasis in a business or technical (science or engineering) field preferred.
- Masters or Doctoral Degree in a related discipline strongly preferred.
- Fifteen 15+ years of demonstrated success in leading learning and development, and/or business process management required.
- Seven 7+ years of experience in a senior leadership role.
- Experience as a senior learning and/or business process leader in a mid-sized or larger organization is strongly preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats and give presentations utilizing various audiovisual support aids
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated excellent analytical and quantitative skills; effective decision-making, time management, project management, and organizational skills required
- Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in making decisions, and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to influence through strong communication and presentation skills; ability to use analytics to convince executive management to take action
- Ability to influence senior and executive management and create positive change by identifying overlapping interests in a collaborative environment
- Ability to be flexible and work under high pressure in a complex environment
