Job Description:
The SVP of Global Engineering for the Pluralsight product will have direct responsibility for the delivery of the product line, the infrastructure that enables the delivery of that product set, and in-application support for customers with internal processes and procedures to ensure that our customers are delighted. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will have phenomenal insight into business objectives and will be relied upon to prioritize technical engineering objectives and workstreams to meet those business objectives. We’re looking for someone with experience building a SaaS product, crafting and communicating internal engineering processes, and leading leaders while promoting collaboration, an intense customer focus, and strong culture of accountability.

What you’ll do:
You will lead a globally distributed (US / APAC / EMEA) organization of 200+ software engineers and senior engineering managers working on our product. Responsibilities include:
  • Product Delivery: Translate product strategy into an executable technology roadmap and guide the org through consistent, scalable, and reliable delivery as we evolve our cloud architecture using AWS-native technologies
  • Product Excellence: Coordinate the technology and components to delight our users, improve quality, and reduce the cost of support and maintenance
  • Reliable Experience: Ensure your product meets or exceeds contracted SLAs
  • Talent Development: Champion the growth, and personal development of hundreds of engineers
  • Strategic Partnerships: Enable a direct and deep relationship with product managers, sales, and account managers
  • Product Strategy: Advise our evolving product strategy by bringing technical perspective to the conversation
  • Product Champion: Strategically leverage Pluralsight’s own products across your organization
  • Org Effectiveness: Build alignment through and across the org and teams while promoting accountability, transparency, and innovation; optimize systems, tools and processes to increase speed and quality; supervise and report engineering metrics tied to company KPIs

Experience you’ll bring:
  • Extensive experience with shipping and operating cloud services, with technical depth to be active in decisions about the large architectural investments
  • Hands-on software development experience and credibility with teams of hands-on engineers
  • Experience with software methodologies and development tools for project management and issue tracking
  • Diagramming and development of presentations and maps and specifications for developers
  • Experience with content production tools, terms, and related technical and legal concerns
  • Experience with API management, product instrumentation, analytics, continuous development and integration, and security / audit concerns
  • Experience with UX and UI concepts
  • Demonstrated experience leading and coaching senior leaders and globally distributed teams
  • Strong cross-team and cross-department partnership skills for negotiating smart agreements

Requirements:
15+ years as a software engineer (including extensive experience as leader of leaders) working on large-scale technical projects have prepared you for this role. Technically trained, inquisitive, and with excellent communication and leadership skills, you care about quality engineering, understand business needs, and value empathy. You are ready to work with the CTO, business and product leaders, and cross-functional leaders across the company who will look to you to get things done.
  • Hybrid Work Model: This role follows a hybrid schedule, with on-site work at our Westlake/Dallas, TX office Tuesday through Thursday and remote flexibility on Mondays and Fridays. This approach helps us collaborate more effectively, make decisions more quickly, and build a stronger culture, while still providing flexibility.
