Teachers at the UNL Children’s Center are essential to the success of each classroom, ensuring the safety, security, and developmental well-being of all children in our care.

As a Children’s Center Teacher, you will:
  • Supervise and engage children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years alongside a co-teacher in an assigned infant, toddler, or preschool classroom
  • Apply your knowledge of child development to plan and implement developmentally appropriate practices and emergent curriculum
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, parents, and other early childhood professionals
  • Complete administrative responsibilities including preparing lesson plans and maintaining documentation and child portfolios

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, and/or associates degree with coursework in Early Childhood education and two years of experience, and/or a minimum of four years of relevant early childhood education/experience required.
  • Must have practicum experience completed in a child care environment while attending school; significant, relevant experience may be substituted depending on the candidate’s ability to meet the education and practicum plan requirements.
  • Must have experience and proficiency with basic computer software such as word processing, data entry, and email.
  • Knowledge of early childhood developmental care required.
  • Must have excellent communication skills that can be tailored to children, peers, parents, etc.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills that include the ability to lead a classroom of children and student staff while making independent decisions and solving problems in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field, plus two years of experience working in an early childhood program preferred.
  • Experience with “Teaching Strategies Gold” software and knowledge of” Creative Curriculum” preferred.
