Technical Instructional Designer (Contract)

Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.

Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Technical Instructional Designer to join a highly collaborative learning organization focused on delivering innovative, scalable, and learner-centered training experiences for datacenter technicians and other operational roles. In this fully remote role, you will partner closely with subject matter experts, curriculum managers, and cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain high-quality e-learning courses and curriculum that drive measurable learning outcomes and support operational excellence. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge training initiatives, including AI-enabled learning and workflow-based training, while making a visible and lasting impact on employee readiness and performance.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Integrated Learning Program Managers, Instructional Designers, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to assess learning needs and develop effective training solutions

  • Design, develop, write, and maintain e-learning courseware using authoring tools, with a focus on interactive and engaging content including videos, quizzes, simulations, and microlearning

  • Conduct needs assessments, learner analyses, context analyses, and task analyses to inform instructional design decisions

  • Develop supporting materials such as slides, handouts, lab instructions, and lab solutions that emphasize role-specific tasks and duties

  • Work with SMEs and external technical trainers to incorporate subject matter expertise into a variety of training formats

  • Research technology-related information to ensure training content is accurate, current, and aligned with organizational objectives

  • Manage multiple learning projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery without compromising quality

  • Apply innovative tools and methodologies including generative AI, microlearning, and 3D modeling to enhance learning experiences

  • Monitor and analyze learner engagement metrics such as course completion rates, assessment scores, and feedback to continuously improve training effectiveness

  • Maintain awareness of external seminars, training programs, and industry literature to inform best practices

  • Participate in team meetings and SME sessions to align training content with business goals and role-specific competencies

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in instructional design, including needs assessment, learner analysis, context analysis, and task analysis

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Articulate authoring tools and Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with cross-functional teams including SMEs, program managers, and technical stakeholders

  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering e-learning programs for diverse audiences across varied environments

  • Experience developing learning solutions for technical or operational roles, with datacenter instructional experience strongly preferred

  • Experience working with AI platforms and 3D modeling tools preferred

  • Portfolio of work samples demonstrating trainings across multiple fields, including new technology and process enhancement topics, required for consideration

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, or a related field preferred

  • Master's degree or other formal education in Instructional Design preferred

  • Advanced proficiency in Articulate Storyline, including sophisticated branching logic, demo simulations, and interactive learning elements

  • Proficiency in Articulate Rise 360 for developing modern, responsive e-learning content

  • Deep expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro, including video editing and basic animation

  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite for creating visual and multimedia learning assets

  • Experience developing AI-enabled learning solutions and working with 3D models

  • Strong technical communications skills including writing, editing, and content structuring

  • Ability to troubleshoot technology issues related to e-learning development and multimedia tools

  • Experience working with media including video production and editing

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel

  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to translate client needs into effective learning programs

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Solid understanding of instructional design methodologies and performance-based learning principles
