The Technical Product Manager (TPM) is a results-oriented individual with a passion and capability for creating high-quality learning solutions, on time, on scope and on quality. As a leader of products, platforms, and/or teams within Enterprise Product, the TPM is an advocate for customer-centric software, promotes teamwork and knowledge sharing, and shows thoughtful collaboration with customers and stakeholders across multiple business units. The TPM acts as the conscience of the product, responsible for ensuring their product, content, and/or platform team(s) define, manage, and implement innovative digital products and platform functionalities that are uniquely responsive to market demands and MH priorities. The TPM is also responsible for the successful integration and release of content into the platform
This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.
What You'll Do:
- Leads a feature set, product, platform, and/or service within Enterprise Product and manages multiple projects across a portfolio, increasing in scope and complexity over time. Serves as product owner for 1-3 agile teams and/or product leadership groups.
- Acts as the conscience of the product and advocates for customer-centric software. Continuously evaluates the product from the users’ perspectives to ensure the best possible experience. Prioritizes customer experience throughout all stages of development.
- Understands and executes business and product strategies for each business unit. Clearly connects the strategy and vision to the work being done by teams. Develops a shared vision for products by investigating market demands, user feedback, and competitive analysis. Provides input into planning and roadmaps.
- Partners with business stakeholders to gather and prioritize product and customer requirements, articulate user personas and needs, and facilitate user testing programs, including business acceptance testing and user research.
- Collaborates with business product stakeholders to design, develop, and implement digital learning solutions. Balances customer needs with available resources to deliver viable solutions. Resolves ambiguous product requirements to establish a product vision that can be shared with product and/or platform teams.
- Owns and drives product and/or platform cycle plans aligned with business milestones. Partners with research teams, development teams, business stakeholders, and customer-facing teams to ensure scope is delivered on time, within budget, and at high quality.
- Drafts project charters, requirements, and themes/epics/stories, incorporating stakeholder inputs. Translates customer needs into actionable requirements for engineering teams and ensures delivered products align with roadmap milestones and desired functionality.
- Oversees all aspects of product and/or platform maintenance, including technical debt, infrastructure, tools, and feature functionality.
- Collaborates with content development teams across business units to support content creation for new products.
- Identifies and manages cross-team dependencies, ensuring all affected teams understand and address them effectively. Leads cross-team collaboration and coordination to deliver a seamless end-to-end user experience.
- Define and report KPIs; make recommendations to leadership and execute on approved direction.
- Track competitive and technological landscape, keeping abreast of new innovations and developments in the market space.
- Partners with business stakeholders to facilitate knowledge transfer and training on new product features. Collaborates with sales and marketing teams to promote and explain new products/platforms, ensuring positive revenue impact. Shares release benefits with business stakeholders and other customer-facing teams.
What You Bring:
- 3+ years of experience in leading Agile-based, software product development teams and/or leading content development teams, with an emphasis on Pre-K through Higher Education content development and management.
- Demonstrated success defining and launching complex SaaS products, especially in educational software, to large, established user bases and with no downtime.
- Demonstrated ability to think and act systematically and analytically, seeing patterns and finding ways to improve user experiences and internal processes/ways of working.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data from disparate sources to drive conclusions and recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead user-centered design processes, with a strong focus on user experience.
- Demonstrated people skills; must be able to collaborate effectively with diverse personalities and skill sets, and enjoy constructive conflict.
- Experienced in wireframe and design analysis, software application analysis, use case diagram development, and user story writing.
- Detail-oriented, deadline‐conscious, results‐driven, and high‐performing in a complex, commitment-driven environment. Manages multiple tasks, projects, and/or teams concurrently.
- Understands basic principles of Product Management, user-centered design, agile scrum software development, and the software development lifecycle.
- Strong decision-making, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational communication skills. Reliably demonstrates understanding of and ability to transform technical concepts into non-technical terms that are understandable by business and customer stakeholders and teams.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of and experience working on the development of McGraw Hill products and platforms
- Knowledge of instructional design; experience in scalable production of digital content
- Experience working with remote teams in various time zones
- Experience using JIRA and Confluence
- Basic understanding of fundamental business principles
- Scrum Product Owner Certification
- Expertise in testing for WCAG compliance

The pay range for this position is between $111,915 - $155,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered. Click
