Overview

Technical Training Manager

Hayward Holdings Inc. (NYSE "HAYW") is the largest manufacturer of residential swimming pool equipment in the world, with a significant presence in the commercial pool market that is continuously growing. Hayward designs, manufactures, and markets a full line of residential and commercial pool and spa equipment including pumps, filters, heating, cleaners, salt chlorinators, automation, lighting, safety, flow control and energy solutions at our company owned facilities. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China.  This position is REMOTE but base location could be in AZ, CA or NV.

Responsibilities

The Technical Training Manager designs and executes the technical training strategy for Hayward customers and employees.  This includes: 
  • Create training content, materials, and courses (video, digital, and printed). 
  • Conduct training events (classroom, in-field, hands-on, large group, small group, industry events, webinar). 
  • Collaborate with field staff, Product Management, Engineering, Human Resources, IT, customers, and others to identify training needs and new training strategies/methods. 
 Through this, the Technical Training Manager accomplishes the following: 
  • Provide customers with the skillset needed to be confident selling, installing, troubleshooting, and supporting Hayward products. 
  • Provide employees with the skillset needed to be confident supporting Hayward customers. 
 
This is one of multiple field-based Technical Training Manager positions, reporting to the Senior National Tech Service Support Manager, with a strong dotted line relationship to the local District Technical Manager. 

Design Training Content, Materials, and Courses 
Develop technical training content that is utilized by Hayward customers and employees.  This includes: 
  • Product feature/benefit 
  • Product installation and programming 
  • Product troubleshooting 
  • Product repair 
  • Pool and Spa basics 
 
The format for this training content includes: 
  • Troubleshooting Guides 
  • Quick Reference Cards 
  • How-To Videos 
  • Training Presentation Outlines and Guides 
 
Additionally: 
  • Develop training presentations to be utilized by other Hayward employees from the Technical Service and Sales teams when they conduct training events. 
  • Design and deploy training simulators to be used for hands-on training events. 
  • Maintain content for online training platforms (Hayward University, Tech Service Resource Library, GoTo sites, etc.). 
 
Conduct Training Events 
Design, organize and conduct customer and employee training events.  This includes small-group (10 or fewer participants) and large-group (30+ participants) events.  Examples include: 
  • In-field training (on a jobsite, at a customer’s place of business, at a distribution event, etc.) 
  • Classroom training (at a Hayward facility or other central location) 
  • Event training (large-group seminar, trade show or other industry event, etc.) 
  • Webinar training (virtual seminar with live, interactive content) 
The audience for these events includes: 
  • Hayward customers (dealers, builders, servicers, retail employees, distribution employees, etc.) 
  • Hayward employees (new hires, field-based and office-based employees) 
Additionally: 
  • Manage the online registration process for large-group Hayward-sponsored training events. 
  • Collaborate with local field-staff, Marketing staff, and others to coordinate resources for large-group Hayward-sponsored training events (participant registration, facility booking, food/drink management, giveaway items, etc.). 
 
Identify Training Needs and New Training Strategies/Methods 
Work closely with internal partners (Tech Service team, Sales team, HR team, Marketing team, and others) to identify training needs.  These could be for specific products, specific tasks, or for specific audiences. 
Additionally: 
  • Continually look for new ways to approach training, including new strategies, technologies, or methods. 
Stay abreast of industry trends to anticipate upcoming training opportunities.

Qualifications

Capabilities/Qualifications: 
  • Strong presentation, and communication skills (written and verbal). 
  • Ability to collaborate and work independently. 
  • High degree proficiency in the following programs:  
  • PowerPoint 
  • Photoshop  
  • Illustrator  
  • Articulate  
  • Audio and Video editing software 
Education / Experience: 
  • BS/BA Degree in related discipline or comparable industry experience. 
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical field, with preference given to those within the pool industry
